Fragrance information:

Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc L`Occitane en Provence, released in 2015, is marketed as a feminine fragrance, rooted in the floral family. Perfumer Karine Dubreuil poured every ounce of mastery into this one. By character, it falls into the citrus, floral, and musk groups. The palette of this fragrance is exceptionally rich: traces of powdery can also be found — a rare combination that makes this perfume truly one of a kind. Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc — proudly part of the Collection de Grasse collection. In eau de toilette — and that's all it takes to fall in love.

It carries a moderate sillage, leaving a trail that lingers pleasantly in the air. In terms of longevity, it sits at moderate — long enough to make a real impression. Brand country — France, with its deep-rooted relationship with the fragrance industry. A rich, layered composition that reveals itself differently depending on your mood and the time of day.

Perfume information

Description of the composition

The composition of Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc evolves as a living composition, where notes flow smoothly and sequentially. The style of L`Occitane en Provence is recognizable in the pacing of the notes and the overall aesthetic. No excess details, only what works, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Eau de toilette keeps a balanced rhythm of unfolding.

From the first breath you meet sweet-fresh fruity opening notes: Blackcurrant and Citrus accord.

In the middle phase you detect Fig, Iris, Nectar, Peach, White Iris and ylang-ylang keeping a tempting fruity direction.

The accord architecture is built around these accords: Citrus, Floral, Fruit and Musc forming a compact and readable structure. Additional accords such as Wood and Powdery add depth to the backdrop. The profile is feminine, which clarifies the composition character. For persistence Middle suggests confident staying power.

At the note-group layer the structure relies on Citrus, Floral, Musk and Powdery. It also reaches into Fruit, Animals, Whiteflower and Wood.

Taken together Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc holds a coherent structure — the opening sets direction, the central phase adds depth, while the drydown anchors the memory. These are the scent structures best judged on skin.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

At first, this fragrance seemed too natural, even boring. But over time, I realized I liked it, and now I wear it, pairing it with different looks. It's a shame I use it every day, even though its scent is quite restrained. These aren't sweet irises, but rather bitter ones, creating a feeling of coolness, as if you're standing among blue and white irises on damp green stems, with leaves that slightly creak. Overall, I love it

Too sweet and intrusive. Powder is present, but not alone. Fruits are added, and that's clearly not by chance. With them, the fragrance becomes more active, but it doesn't make it any lighter

The iris here is not bad, of course, but I can't help but notice that it's somehow too simple. It smells natural, but that L'Occitane iris that was discontinued was simply chic. This one feels like it doesn't quite measure up, too commonplace. It might pass in the office if you want to create a calm atmosphere, but just don't overdo the amount, or sensitive noses might not appreciate it 😒

There's an abundance of powder here, if you're a fan of irises, this is definitely your choice. Floral notes with citruses sound quite harmonious. And the violet with musk adds a cool touch. It's nice that this isn't that old powdery scent that brings associations with grandma's things, but rather interesting flowers with a light carrot accent. The composition looks noble, but leaves a bitter aftertaste 🌧️

This scent with irises? Oh no, that's not immediately clear. Apparently, local irises smell completely different from ours. They're somehow too sweet and loud, a bit like lily of the valley, but still not quite right. Honestly, there's nothing to compare it to. The powdery hint, it seems, is iris root, that's what I recognized. The scent is interesting, of course, but too sweet for my taste 😒
