Description of the composition

The composition of Cologne Cedrat unfolds as a cohesive olfactory arc, where accents shift without rush and without gaps. The signature of Matiere Premiere is clear from the opening to the final trail. Nothing here feels random, and the structure feels complete all the way through. Eau de parfum supports the right density and pace of development.

The internal accord map is driven by these accords: Citrus, Wood and Spicy with each one in a clear role. The profile is unisex, which makes the scent profile easier to read.

In the top tier you meet invigorating sunny opening note: Bergamot. This single 1 note sets a sensation of cool purity that gives the fragrance a clear opening statement.

In the heart you detect Black Pepper and Pink pepper carrying a warm-spicy direction. At the foundation the structure settles through Mate, reinforcing a dry green trail.

Cologne Cedrat by Guichard is an interesting approach to creating a long-lasting citrus fragrance that can really stay on all day. It's usually thought that citrus notes disappear quickly, but here the situation is different. The use of Italian citron with its floral-citrus aroma, complemented by bergamot, mandarin, orange, and lemon, creates an interesting balance.

Although each of these components is added in the right proportions to highlight the citron, Guichard masterfully uses other notes to create the illusion of citrus freshness. Mate and green tea, as well as suede and aquatic accents, add depth and complexity. They don't smell directly like citrus, but they interact with them, prolonging the feeling of their presence.

Overall, Cologne Cedrat is a classic citrus cologne with a slightly outdated woody-suede hint and an aquatic accent. Personally, I miss the brightness and juiciness of the citruses, but, undoubtedly, the longevity of the fragrance is impressive )
