Moon Child by Nose Republic — the character and story of the fragrance

Moon Child Eau de Parfum by Nose Republic is a unisex fragrance released in 2023.

This eau de parfum has a bold, atmospheric character in which floral softness meets cool mineral and almost futuristic nuances.

The Nose Republic brand comes from Sweden and specializes in unisex eau de parfums.

Moon Child captures this Scandinavian minimalism beautifully: the composition does not try to be predictably delicate or traditionally masculine, but offers a freer interpretation of a floral fragrance.

The Moon Child fragrance pyramid and development

The formula features aldehydes, raspberry, metallic notes, gunpowder, lily, sandalwood and musk.

This combination creates a striking contrast: airy aldehydic accords evoke radiance and cool air, while metallic nuances and gunpowder add sharpness, character and an unusual industrial edge.

As it develops, the fragrance balances the purity of white flowers with expressive minerality.

Lily softens the sharper nuances, raspberry adds a light fruity impulse, while sandalwood and musk create a rounder, warmer and more sensual base.

The Moon Child note pyramid is not divided into classic top, middle and base accords, so the fragrance is experienced as a cohesive, multilayered accord.

Who is the fragrance for, and what is its sillage like?

Moon Child is positioned as a unisex fragrance and will appeal to those who enjoy unconventional florals with a cool, metallic and slightly mysterious character.

Its personality will particularly appeal to fans of “clean skin” fragrances, abstract white florals and unusual accents that develop differently depending on the temperature and the individual chemistry of the skin.

The perfume is described as having very strong sillage, so Moon Child makes its presence known and is well suited to occasions when you want to leave a distinctive aromatic impression behind.

For the office or a small room, moderation is best, while in the evening, in cool weather and in open spaces, its intensity becomes an impressive advantage.

Specific recommendations for the number of sprays on skin and clothing are not provided.

Start with one or two sprays on the skin and assess the intensity after 20–30 minutes; on fabric, the fragrance may last longer and smell denser, so it is also best to use a minimal amount there.

The perfumers and the Nose Republic style

Moon Child was created by Stéphanie Bakouche and Ksenia Golovanova.

Their collaboration is expressed through the vivid contrast between floral transparency, metallic coolness and a softer musky-woody character.

The result is a fragrance with a strong identity: it does not replicate a classic floral formula, but transforms it into a modern, slightly cinematic image.

In terms of mood, Moon Child may remind you of Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Light, Chopard Casmir Fragrance Festival or The Harmonist Metal Flower. However, the combination of lily, gunpowder and metallic notes makes this Nose Republic release distinctive and recognizable in its own right.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

The pyramid is unusual and quite rare, although an untrained nose probably wouldn’t find the scent that unusual. I clearly smell musk, sandalwood and raspberry. There is a metallic nuance too, but it’s so subtle that it’s easy to miss without a hint
