Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Aldehyde 44 Dallas is built as a cohesive olfactory arc, where accents shift with precision and warmth. The style of Le Labo is clear in the pacing of the notes and the overall aesthetic. No excess details, only what works, and the composition keeps a clear direction. Eau de parfum emphasizes the right density and pace of development.

When the pyramid is blended into one block the fragrance opens as a single chord with a romantic floral mood: Aldehydes, Ambrette, Jasmine, Narcissus, Neroli, Tuberose and Vanilla.

The inner phases are felt as a smooth transition from opening to trail, which keeps the fragrance coherent.

The internal accord map is driven by these accords: Floral, Musc, Wood and Amber without random overlap. Background accords such as Spicy and Cosmetic expand the olfactory volume in the background.

Aldehyde 44, named after the capital of Texas, was created by Yann Vasnier and truly reflects its character in its name. Aldehydes are at the forefront here, and they don't leave until the very end. Although aldehydic fragrances are not as popular now, they seem to be trying to come back into fashion. Modern perfumers use them less often, but in smaller doses. These aliphatic aldehydes have fatty, floral, and soapy notes that can be quite bright. They are often described as cold and sharp, but in reality, it's the soap that smells like them, not the other way around. In the past, aldehydes were at the peak of popularity and were used in most perfume compositions. They are associated with classic fragrances that were in vogue until the 90s. In general, an aldehydic accord is about vintage style and classicism. Dallas, in turn, hasn't strayed too far from them. However, its classicism is only felt in the first few minutes. Usually, aldehydes are followed by rich accords, but in Aldehyde 44, the soapy smell of old powders continues… with silence. A silence in which it's hard to distinguish lily of the valley and jasmine, warmed by vanillin and modern white musk, which enhances associations with laundry detergents. There are no natural motifs in this fragrance; the flowers and vanilla don't try to be real, although the press release mentions natural components. Dallas resembles a scene from an old arthouse film where the main character sits on a snow-white bed and is silent. For three hours. It evokes memories of many past fragrances, such as Chanel 22 and White Linen Estée Lauder, but doesn't copy any of them. If you love aldehydic fragrances and are looking for something modern and transparent, you should try this scent dedicated to Dallas ✨
