Philosophy My Philosophy Expressive perfume: a philosophy of beauty in every moment

Imagine a fragrance that does not merely unfold but speaks to the soul.

Philosophy is a brand born in New York in 2000, renowned for its unique philosophy, in which fragrances become part of self-expression. My Philosophy Expressive is no exception.

Released in 2015, this women’s fragrance in eau de parfum concentration belongs to the My Philosophy collection, celebrated for the ability to layer fragrances to create a unique scent.

Expressiveness in every note

The My Philosophy Expressive composition is a hymn to joy and light.

Perfumer Mathieu Nardin masterfully combined amber, grapefruit, and orange blossom to give us a sparkling-honeyed, tart yet soft fragrance.

It belongs to the citrus and floral families, yet its amber base makes it feel much deeper and warmer.

An exceptionally strong trail and incredible longevity

This fragrance has an exceptionally strong trail. One spray, and you are enveloped in a cloud of tenderness that stays with you all day long.

Expressive is perfect for those who enjoy being noticed while still valuing refinement.

Thanks to the concept behind the My Philosophy collection, you can also layer it with other fragrances in the line to create your own unique cocktail.

Similar fragrances and how to make it your own

If you like My Philosophy Expressive, take a look at Mary Kay Pink Diamonds, Mad et Len Eau De Fleur d'Oranger, and Guerlain Happy 190.

They, too, unfold with bright citrus-floral accords.

Description of the composition

The composition of Pholosophy My Philosophy Expressive is built around three key notes that blend into a harmonious accord. The top note is sparkling grapefruit, bringing energy and freshness.

At its heart is an intoxicating, honeyed orange blossom (neroli), lending the fragrance sensuality and warmth. The base is velvety amber, creating a long-lasting, enveloping trail.

Together, they create a sense of fullness and softness.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. This fragrance is simply unbearable. Sweet floral notes with citrus only cause irritation. There's no longevity at all, and cheerfulness is just an illusion. I don't understand how anyone can wear this 😒

The fragrance, of course, isn't bad, but it's as if it's lost its brightness. It reminds me of the floral-citrus notes from Aqua Allegoria, but too diluted. From the bottle, something fresh, citrusy, even joyful is heard. But as soon as it's applied to the skin, a soapy sensation appears. It seems this fragrance isn't for those with warm skin. It's as if something important is slipping away. (((

The fragrance reminds me of summer and sun, but the citruses here have a bitterness, which is a bit off-putting. Then some sweetish oily aftertaste appears. I can't quite pinpoint what's wrong with it, it seems pleasant, but something bothers me, though maybe that's just my opinion 🤷‍♀️
