Парфюмер

Imagine a man whose childhood was steeped in the scents of jasmine fields and verbena gardens. This is Matthieu Narden, a perfumer whose biography begins in the heart of the perfume universe, in Grasse. Born into a family deeply involved in the production of aromatic substances, he absorbed knowledge about natural materials from an early age, spending his summer vacations collecting precious flowers. This unique experience not only determined his destiny, but also laid the foundation for his future mastery, making him one of the most sought-after "noses" of our time.

From the fields of Grasse to the world of perfumery

Mathieu's path to fame was conscious and consistent. After studying chemistry at the University of Nice, he enrolled in the prestigious ISIPCA school and began his career at Robertet under the wise mentorship of perfumer Michel Saramito. This period was an invaluable learning experience for him, allowing him to quickly grow from a junior perfumer to a creator trusted by major brands. By 2012, his first hits had already appeared: the refreshing L'Occitane en Provence - Eau Universelle and the soothing Roger & Gallet - Eau des Bienfaits.

Signature style: elegance and naturalness

Mathieu Narden's style is a masterful combination of elegant simplicity and sensual depth. Raised on the natural products of Grasse, he works virtuosically with floral and fruity accords, endowing them with a modern airiness and impeccable purity of lines. His fragrances often exude transparency and naturalness, whether it's the juicy Molinard - Figue or the delicate Goutal Paris - Le Temps des Rêves. At the same time, the perfumer brilliantly creates complex, rich compositions, such as the smoky Miller Harris - La Fumée Alexandrie or the exotic Xerjoff - Zefiro.

The best fragrances and iconic collaborations

Mathieu Narden's portfolio is a true map of modern perfumery, from affordable luxury to high niche. He is the author of cult compositions for the legendary house of Molinard, such as the romantic Rose Emois and the sunny Fleur d'Oranger de Molinard. His talent is highly valued in the world of niche perfumery: he has created several hits for Goutal Paris (such as the mysterious Étoile d'une Nuit), chic orientals for Etro such as Shantung, and rich extracts for Perris Monte Carlo (Santal du Pacifique).

A new chapter in his career and recent triumphs

In 2018, after almost nine years at Robertet, Matthieu Narden took an important step by joining Mane. This transition opened up new horizons for his creativity. A striking example of this is the sensational By Kilian - L'Heure Verte (2021) - an interpretation of absinthe from The Liquors collection, which captivated the perfume community with its boldness and complexity. This work confirmed that Narden continues to evolve as a master, boldly experimenting with new ideas.

Today, Matthieu Narden is a bridge between the rich heritage of Grasse and the dynamic world of global perfumery. His fragrances, whether affordable compositions for Zara or Yves Rocher or exquisite creations for niche houses, are consistently distinguished by their quality, emotionality, and impeccable taste. For true perfume connoisseurs, getting to know his work is an opportunity to experience the genuine magic of modern perfume composition.
