History and Identity

Introducing Slava Zaitsev Maroussia, a fragrance that has become a symbol of an era and the embodiment of Russian style in perfumery.

Released in 1992, this women's perfume from Slava Zaitsev reflects the brand's unique approach, where high fashion meets the art of fragrance creation.

Russian style in the world of perfumery is not just words; the Slava Zaitsev perfume house creates compositions that provide a sense of luxury and sophistication, and Maroussia is a vivid example of this.

It is an Eau de Toilette that has won the hearts of many admirers since its release.

In the 1990s, when the perfume world was experiencing a boom of new directions, Maroussia stood out with its rich and multifaceted character, becoming a classic in the brand's collection.

Composition and Character

Slava Zaitsev Maroussia belongs to the Floral and Oriental families, making it both delicate and sensual.

The fragrance begins its journey with bright top notes, where aldehydes and citrus chords set a fresh mood, then unfolds in the heart with a flourish of floral motifs, and in the base envelops with warm and sweet shades.

This complex pyramid ensures a dynamic development on the skin, from the first seconds to a long trail.

If you love fragrances with depth and history, Maroussia will not disappoint – each note contributes to the overall harmony, creating an image of a confident and elegant woman.

Read more about the composition in a separate description, where we will break down each note.

How to Wear and What to Pair With

As a Women's fragrance, Maroussia is perfect for those who appreciate classic elegance with an oriental accent.

Its Medium Trail means that the perfume will be noticeable but not intrusive, making it a versatile choice for various occasions – from everyday wear to evening events.

It is especially relevant in the cold season, when warm base notes help create a cozy atmosphere.

For those looking for alternatives, we recommend paying attention to similar fragrances: Van Cleef & Arpels First with its floral refinement, Lancôme Parfait de Roses for rose note lovers, and Bvlgari Splendia, which also combines oriental and floral elements.

Each of them offers a unique perspective on a similar theme.

Influence and Legacy

Slava Zaitsev Maroussia is not just a perfume, but a part of the cultural heritage of Russian design.

Although information about specific perfumers has not been preserved, the Slava Zaitsev brand itself is known for bringing elements of high fashion and national flavor into perfumery.

This fragrance has strengthened the house's reputation as a creator of quality and memorable compositions, and it still remains in demand among connoisseurs.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Everything is in its place in this fragrance: sweetness, a little bitterness with spices, and even tartness. The cherry note is simply delightful - so delicate, yet strong and resilient at the same time. Just like a real Russian woman, if we're talking classics 😄 The fragrance is very pleasant and easy to wear, with creamy-woody notes clearly dominating

Despite its affordable price and mass market appeal, this fragrance doesn't come across as cheap. It's quite interesting and dense, with a light lipsticky nuance. The aldehydes are barely noticeable, but the floral notes and a warm, cozy base create a harmonious sound. It's truly unique, and that's why it's worth paying attention to)))

Autumn is a time when the air fills with the smell of decaying leaves and damp earth. This fragrance is just right for such days. It truly stands out with its brightness and grandeur, unlike the usual things we wear every day 🌬️

The perfume, in my opinion, is simply magnificent. It's the perfect choice for your closest person. The blend of scents truly delights, creating a unique feeling. But this is just my opinion, sorry if anything's wrong

The smell, to be honest, is quite soapy and rich. At first, it seems like something original, but then this strange note of red berries appears. It seems beautiful, but at the same time, it reminds me of something household-like, like dark bar soap. Honestly, I've never encountered anything like it before. This fragrance seems to leave a mark on the shelf, like a bright stole that saves you from dullness. It's so dense, with powdery and aldehydic notes. Images of rosy cheeks and a colorful scarf come to mind. Overall, the name, image, and content don't seem to contradict each other, but there's still a sense of mystery

For those who appreciate classics. This fragrance clearly gives off a retro vibe, and I confess, I was afraid of aldehydes, but they're not aggressive at all here. Sweetness is present, but within reasonable limits, resinous, with a slight bitterness. But, honestly, I don't see it on young people, but it suits mature women. Overall, the quality of the scent and longevity are good, the sillage is moderate, more noticeable up close 😔

The fragrance immediately caught my attention. It reminds me of the smell of quality soap, which creates a feeling of cleanliness and well-being. I often use it at work, and what's interesting - no one has ever been able to guess what perfume it is. For me, it's very pleasant, lovely, and not intrusive, while its longevity is excellent. I feel right at home with it! 😊

The fragrance isn't bad, of course, but definitely not for young people. It definitely won't suit women under 40, and even at 40, you want something fresher and more modern. After buying it, I decided to give it to a relative who has long preferred something more classic, like Red Moscow. I don't know how anyone can wear this, but she seemed to like it 😒

This is truly an unusual fragrance, unique in its kind. I've never encountered anything like it before! Although one men's perfume in a green bottle comes to mind, whose name has escaped me, but it had some similar notes to Maroussia. It reminded me of that very Marusya who, when she enters a hut, will stop a horse!!! This fragrance really has some kind of masculinity, you know. It's interesting how it develops on the skin, worth trying!

I can't say my nose is anything special, but in this fragrance, I caught woody notes, a bit of spice, and a slight tartness of clove. In the end, there's also a hint of bitterness. Honestly, I can't say I'm thrilled with this scent. It's unusual, of course, but not for everyday use. Although, I admit, sometimes I'm drawn to it, as if by some mysterious force!!! Maybe it touched something deeply personal in me, something hard to explain in words…
