Description of the composition

The composition of After Dark unfolds as a living composition, where notes flow smoothly and sequentially. The signature of Van Heusen comes through in details that define the fragrance identity. Every decision feels deliberate, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Eau de toilette supports a balanced rhythm of unfolding.

In the first seconds you catch spicy-green first notes: Basil, Coriander, Grapefruit and Mint. These 4 notes build olfactory composure that is impossible to miss.

In the middle phase you sense Cardamom, Ginger, Nutmeg and Orange blossom keeping a spicy-aromatic direction.

The accord profile is driven by these accords: Aromatic, Citrus, Floral and Musc with each one in a clear role. Background accords such as Wood, Spicy and Mineral enrich the profile without taking over.

From the group perspective the profile is anchored in Aromatic, Spicy, Citrus and Whiteflower. The palette also extends to Ambery, Wood and Musk. From a family perspective the composition sits in Spicy and Wood.

Taken together After Dark holds a coherent structure — the start forms character, the middle layer carries the identity, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint. These are the scent structures best experienced on skin.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Very conspicuous

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

A faint tobacco note with some spices sounds so-so. Coriander, yes, is felt, but not too brightly. Overall, the fragrance isn't impressive, it definitely doesn't suit an elegant man
