Vero Kern

Парфюмер

Vero Kern is a Swiss scent artist whose journey into the world of fragrances began unusually late, but led to the creation of truly iconic works. Her story proves that passion and talent know no age limits. After retiring from her job as a Swissair flight attendant, she enrolled in a Parisian perfume school at the age of 58 and soon founded the legendary niche brand Vero Profumo.

An unusual path to the perfume Olympus

With a medical education and experience in pharmaceuticals, Vero approached perfumery with a unique depth. She perceived perfume not as an accessory, but as a second skin, "clothing for the body." She tested each fragrance exclusively on herself, wearing it for months to understand the slightest nuances of its development. This meticulous, almost scientific approach shaped her unique signature style — dense, multifaceted, and emotionally rich.

Vero Profumo's philosophy and signature style

Founded in 2007, the Vero Profumo brand became a manifesto of her philosophy. Vero drew inspiration from the great spirits of the past from Guerlain and Caron, but spoke in a modern language. Her style is classic French school with a powerful, almost sculptural silhouette. She masterfully worked with contrasts, creating fragrances that surprised and captivated with their complex evolution on the skin. Each of her compositions is a story full of references to personal memories and images.

Cult fragrances that conquered the niche world

Despite the modest number of names, each of Vero's works became an event. The debut trilogy instantly won the love of connoisseurs. Spicy, leathery, and incredibly vibrant, Onda is her calling card. The playful and seductive Kiki, with notes of jasmine and vanilla, has become a symbol of elegant sensuality. And the lush, almost velvety Rubj, with tuberose and musk, has won the hearts of lovers of luxurious oriental accords. Later, they were joined by the delicate Mito and Rozy, each of which exists in Extrait de Parfum and lighter Eau de Parfum versions, demonstrating the perfumer's skill in different concentrations.

Collaborations and work for other houses

In addition to her own brand, Véro Kern's talent was in demand by other houses. For the Swiss brand Richard Luscher Britos, she created the amazing fragrance 14°S 48°E — a perfumed journey to the Seychelles. Her signature is also recognizable in fragrances for Cheri Milaney and Hammam Basar, where her approach to dense, textured compositions found its embodiment.

A legacy that continues to inspire

Vero Kern's passing in December 2018 was a huge loss for the world of niche perfumery. Her fragrances, especially the Extrait versions, are now considered rarities and sought after by collectors. In the perfume community, her name is spoken with great respect, and reviews of her work are full of admiration for their artistic integrity and emotional depth. Vero Kern did not chase commercial success; she created art, and that is why her legacy—the Vero Profumo brand and its iconic perfumes—will forever remain in history as an example of uncompromising artistic expression.
