The Character and History of the Fragrance

100BON Rose & Black Pepper is a 2024 unisex fragrance in which the spicy energy of black pepper meets an expressive, slightly cool rose.

The fragrance is part of the L'Atelier 100BON collection and reflects the brand’s modern take on niche perfumery: the composition feels natural and dimensional, without trying to conform to traditional gender boundaries.

The French brand 100BON, founded in 2017 by Nicolas and Raphaël Hervé, builds its philosophy around purity, simplicity and a mindful approach to fragrance.

Rose & Black Pepper continues this direction, combining a transparent citrus opening, a spicy heart and a warm woody-balsamic base.

The result is a fragrance with character, but without excessive weight.

The Fragrance Pyramid and Development

The fragrance opens with bergamot, black pepper, cardamom and saffron.

The first minutes are sparkling, dry and slightly tart: citrus freshness quickly receives a spicy impulse, while saffron lends the accord a golden, subtly leathery depth.

In the heart, clove, geranium and rose unfold.

Here, the composition becomes softer and more floral without losing its piquancy: the rosy facet is not romantically sweet, but elegant, dry and slightly cool.

Geranium supports the freshness, clove intensifies the spicy facet, and rose brings all the nuances together into a cohesive, expressive bouquet.

The base features benzoin, myrrh, patchouli and Virginia cedar. Balsamic notes give the trail roundness and comfort, patchouli adds earthy depth, while cedar creates a clean woody framework.

As a result, the fragrance gradually moves from a bright spicy opening to a calm, warm and composed finish.

Positioning and Wearability

This unisex eau de parfum is suitable for women and men who prefer spicy, floral, oriental and woody facets over sweet gourmand compositions.

Its character is highly versatile: it works well in the city, at a meeting, in an office with a moderate dress code and during an evening stroll.

Rose & Black Pepper has moderate sillage. It is noticeable within your personal space and leaves a beautiful warm trail, without trying to fill the entire room.

One or two sprays are enough on skin; the same amount is best used on clothing, especially if you prefer a more delicate development.

The composition is most expressive in cool spring, autumn and mild winter, when its spicy and balsamic accords unfold especially harmoniously.

It can also be worn in summer, but it is best reserved for the evening and the dosage should not be increased.

Its mood is composed, elegant and slightly mysterious, making Rose & Black Pepper easy to imagine on someone who enjoys distinctive fragrances without excessive ostentation.

The Perfumer and Its Place in the Collection

The fragrance was created by Serge de Oliveira.

In his interpretation, the rose takes on a more graphic and spicy character: it does not come forward alone, but engages in a dialogue with pepper, cardamom, saffron and woody nuances.

This approach makes the fragrance both recognizable and versatile enough for everyday wear.

Rose & Black Pepper may appeal to fans of spicy-floral compositions with a warm base.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

A very successful rose-and-pepper scent with a bright, dense rose. It feels dark pink, almost turning black. At first, the spices are clearly audible, and clove seems to add a light warmth. The rose is rich here, deep burgundy, in full bloom. Pepper, patchouli, and woody notes remain in the base
