Perfume information

Description of the composition

The composition of Pure Velvet is built as a living composition, where notes flow smoothly and sequentially. The signature of Beate Johnen is evident in the way notes appear and fade. No excess details, only what works, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Eau de parfum sets a balanced rhythm of unfolding.

At olfactory-group level the profile is anchored in Citrus, Spicy, Whiteflower and Floral. The palette also extends to Wood, Musk, Gourmet and Powdery. Within olfactory families the scent maps to East and Powdery.

From the first breath you detect invigorating sunny top notes: Bitter Orange, Cardamom, Lily and Mandarin.

In the central layer you detect Frangipani, Heliotrope, Patchouli and Vanilla Orchid keeping a velvety rose-iris direction.

The internal accord map rests on these accords: Citrus, Gourmet, Floral and Musc forming a compact and readable structure. Secondary accord layers such as Wood and Spicy enrich the profile without taking over. The profile is feminine, which sharpens how the fragrance is perceived.

In summary Pure Velvet sounds complete from start to finish — the opening sets direction, the central phase adds depth, while the drydown anchors the memory. These are the scent structures best understood in wear.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Very conspicuous

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

The scent reminds me of whipped cream, but with a light coconut accent and, unfortunately, a bitterness, as if body cream has gone bad. On a scarf, just a drop smells pleasant, giving something sweet and delicate, with a light citrusy hint of vanilla. Overall, this is a perfume for those who like something special
