Identity and Release History

The fragrance Bvlgari Opera Prima, introduced in 2014, is a testament to the brand's continuous pursuit of excellence in perfumery.

Based on the rich heritage of the Italian jewelry house, Bvlgari has transformed the art of adornment into the creation of olfactory masterpieces since 1884, where each fragrance, like a jewel, carries a unique story and emotion.

Opera Prima, which translates from Italian as "first opera" or "masterpiece," symbolizes this approach, offering the listener— in this case, the wearer— an exciting journey into the world of exquisite scents.

Released without attachment to a specific collection, this perfume stands out for its independence and modernity, reflecting the trends of the 2010s towards lighter but expressive compositions.

Its appearance on the market strengthened Bvlgari's position as a brand that is not afraid to experiment while remaining true to its roots of luxury and quality.

Positioning and Wearability

Designed primarily for women, Opera Prima captivates with its elegance and versatility.

With a moderate sillage, it perfectly balances between noticeability and delicacy, making it suitable for various occasions: from daily office outings to romantic evenings or summer strolls.

Its floral base, belonging to floral families, imparts freshness and cheerfulness, especially appreciated in warm seasons.

Although precise dosage recommendations for skin and clothing are not provided, for fragrances of this type, it is recommended to apply 2-3 sprays to pulse points, such as wrists and behind the ears, to enjoy the full unfolding of the notes.

The absence of data on concentration (EDT, EDP, etc.) suggests that Opera Prima may be available in a standard version focused on longevity and comfort of wear.

For those seeking similar sensations, it is worth noting fragrances such as Oriflame Glitz & Glam, with its sparkling accents, Oriflame Lemon, offering bright citrus freshness, and Yves Rocher Eau Fraiche Cedrat, which also plays on citrus notes.

These alternatives help expand the perfume palette while maintaining a similar aesthetic.

Creators and Influence

The creation of Opera Prima was led by the outstanding perfumer Daniela Roche-Andrier, whose skill and sense of style are well-known in the industry.

Her works are often characterized by a fine balance between tradition and innovation, which is fully reflected in this fragrance.

Under her guidance, Opera Prima became not just a perfume, but an expression of Bvlgari's artistic vision, where each note is carefully selected to create a harmonious whole.

The influence of this release on the Bvlgari brand lies in strengthening its reputation as a creator of multifaceted, emotionally charged fragrances that complement jewelry collections.

Opera Prima may not be the loudest success, but it contributes to the diversity of the brand's perfume portfolio, attracting connoisseurs seeking unique and high-quality compositions beyond the mass market.

Perfume information

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of the Bvlgari Opera Prima fragrance is a harmonious blend of citrus, floral, and spicy accords.

In the composition, Cedrat (citron) and Lemon stand out, providing a fresh, invigorating start reminiscent of sunny citrus groves.

Orange blossom (neroli) and Floral notes add tenderness and romance to the heart of the composition, creating the image of a blooming garden.

The pyramid is completed by Spices, which add depth and warmth, making the fragrance more complex and long-lasting.

This combination makes Opera Prima multifaceted and intriguing, with a smooth transition from a bright initial phase to a soft, enveloping trail.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

The bottle is just awful, I totally agree. It doesn't look like perfume packaging at all. It rather resembles some strange statue from Eastern culture

The bottle doesn't impress me at all, regardless of what material it's made from. It looks tasteless, both in shape and design, and the color scheme leaves much to be desired 😒

The bottle, of course, looks interesting, but it's a shame it's not that easy to find. I'd love for something like this to be available, so you could not just admire it, but actually try it out. Dreams, dreams. But reality's a whole different story

Some strange collector's edition for the brand's 130th anniversary, and they say the bottle is handmade. But, honestly, these kinds of things never make it to us. It would be interesting to see it in person, of course, but it just seems like another gimmick
