Biography and path in perfumery

Daniela Roche-Andrieu is one of the most influential and sought-after perfumers of our time, whose name is inextricably linked to dozens of iconic fragrances. As perfumer for the legendary house of Givaudan, she created compositions that defined the olfactory landscape of entire eras, from the enigmatic Angelique Noire to the sweet icon of a generation, Prada Candy.

Her journey into the world of fragrance began with a childhood fascination. Born in Heidelberg, she moved with her family to Paris at the age of 13, where she later studied philosophy at the Sorbonne. However, an irresistible passion for scents outweighed her, and a fateful meeting with maestro Jacques Polge opened doors for her: first an internship at Chanel, then at Robertet.

Daniela received her fundamental education at the Givaudan perfumery school, after which she was hired by the giant company. Her first independent works, such as La Perla Io and Kenzo Le Monde Est Beau, appeared in the second half of the 1990s, instantly marking the birth of a talent with a unique handwriting.

Top and iconic fragrances

Daniela's portfolio is a veritable encyclopedia of perfume hits. Among her most famous creations are bold Gucci Envy for Men, elegant classics Prada Infusion d'Iris and sensual Valentino Very Valentino. She was at the origin of the Prada perfume universe, creating not only the best-selling Candy and its flankers(Candy L'Eau, Candy Florale), but also entire cult collections.

Her fragrances have become olfactory visages for entire brands. Such works as exquisite Tiffany & Co, playful Miu Miu and ultra-modern Prada La Femme demonstrate the incredible versatility of the master, who works with equal virtuosity in genres from transparent floral to rich oriental compositions.

Signature style and creative handwriting

Daniela Roche-Andrieu's style is an impeccable synthesis of French elegance and modern boldness. She is a true virtuoso in working with iris, as evident in the iconic Infusion line for Prada, and an innovator in the use of gourmand chords, as in the case of the sensationally popular Prada Candy. Her compositions are often characterized by clean lines, subtle play of textures and deep emotional content.

The perfumer believes in the power of narrative: each of her fragrances is a complete story. Whether it is the rebellious gesture of I Am Trash - Les Fleurs du Déchet, created using recycled materials from perfume production, or the delicate, almost watercolor sensuality of Fragonard Belle d'Arles.

Collaborations with leading brands

During her illustrious career Daniela has collaborated with legendary fashion houses, leaving her mark on each of them. Her fragrances have graced the collections of Gucci (including the iconic Rush for Men and Gucci Eau de Parfum), Giorgio Armani (including Emporio Armani and the new She), Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent and Kenzo.

The long-lasting and extremely fruitful partnership with Prada has become one of the most significant in contemporary perfumery. Roche-Andrieu has also proven her versatility in working with jewelry and niche houses, creating sophisticated compositions for Bvlgari (Le Gemme collection), provocative Etat Libre d'Orange and historic Fragonard.

Interesting facts and influences

Daniela Roche-Andrieu is not only a talented "nose" but also part of a perfumery dynasty: she is married to Gilles Andrieu, president of Givaudan. This union symbolizes a deep, almost familial connection to the world of fragrance. Her project I Am Trash for Etat Libre d'Orange, which deliberately used waste products, clearly demonstrates her commitment to innovation and sustainable approach in the industry.

Daniela Roche-Andrieu's contribution can hardly be overemphasized. She has helped shape the olfactory identity of dozens of brands, created fragrances that are worn and adored by millions, and continues to inspire, remaining a bridge between high perfumery tradition and bold modern language. Her work is always a dialog with what the modern man loves and feels.
