Identity and History of Byblos In Black

Immerse yourself in the world of Byblos In Black, a men's fragrance released in 2011.

This fragrance embodies the bold aesthetics of the Italian fashion house founded by Gianni Versace, which launched its perfume line in 1990 as an affordable and youthful alternative.

Byblos In Black is a modern interpretation of a classic, perfectly fitting into the brand's heritage with its daring spirit.

The 2011 release became iconic for Byblos, strengthening its position in the men's perfume market.

The fragrance quickly gained popularity due to its versatile character and contemporary composition, making it an excellent choice for those who value style and individuality.

Positioning and Wearability of Byblos In Black

As a men's fragrance in the concentration of eau de toilette, Byblos In Black has a medium sillage that leaves an elegant trail without being overpowering.

It is ideal for daily wear, evening outings, and business meetings, especially in the cool seasons of autumn and winter when its woody and spicy accords unfold most vividly.

For optimal impression, we recommend applying the fragrance to pulse points on the skin, such as the wrists and neck. This allows the notes to gradually evolve, creating a harmonious image.

If you are looking for alternatives, consider similar fragrances: Hermès Terre d'Hermès for earthy notes, Yves Rocher Sel d'Azur for freshness, and Atelier Cologne Mistral Patchouli for woody depth.

Creators and Influence of Byblos In Black

Behind the creation of Byblos In Black is the talented perfumer Guillaume Flavigny, known for his ability to blend classical elements with modern trends.

His work on this fragrance highlights the mastery in balancing spicy, floral, and woody notes, enhancing Byblos' reputation as a brand that offers quality and stylish perfumes.

Byblos In Black became a significant step in the development of the brand's perfume line, attracting a new audience and strengthening its position in the international market.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Byblos In Black begins with a bright start: grapefruit and neroli give a citrus freshness, enhanced by the spiciness of black pepper.

In the heart of the composition, geranium with floral shades unfolds, resins for velvety depth and a sweet accord, adding warmth.

The base of the fragrance is built on a solid foundation of benzoin, tonka bean, patchouli, vetiver and Virginia cedar, creating a long-lasting and rich finish with woody and spicy notes.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

A woody fragrance from San Marino, it really reminds me of Terre d'Hermes, but with an emphasis on orange zest, as if all the juices have been squeezed out. In the sillage, you can feel benzoin, spicy notes, and mineral patchouli. Overall, it's a decent option for those looking for something affordable

Too cloying to suit men, and too persistent for women. Strange, but I can't imagine it on either gender, unless it's on some aristocrat who doesn't care how they smell. The fragrance is indeed interesting, sweet-resinous, framed in spicy notes!!!

This is an affordable and softer version of 'Terre d'Hermes', with a light sweetish nuance. If you set aside the thought that it's something secondary, you can notice that the fragrance is actually not bad. And considering its low price, it's a great buying decision 🎉

The opening of the fragrance reminds me of Terre, but then tonka beans come to the forefront, giving it a sweetish nuance 💖 I'm sure this scent will appeal to women who appreciate Terre, and it will also be a great option for variety or an alternative 🌸

I recently bought Byblos in Black, and I can say it's very similar to Terre d'Hermes. A pleasant scent that brings joy! 🌟
