Fragrance information:

Dark Obsession Calvin Klein, unveiled in 2013, is positioned as a masculine fragrance, drawing from the east and aromatic families. The author of this composition is Stephen Nilsen, and that explains a lot. Dark Obsession — proudly part of the Obsession collection. Available as eau de toilette.

Expect a delicate sillage: a quiet, intimate presence. The longevity of this fragrance is moderate — exactly what most occasions call for. Country of origin — the United States, and that already says something about the quality. A rich, layered composition that reveals itself differently depending on your mood and the time of day.

Description of the composition

The scent of Dark Obsession unfolds as a continuous scent journey, where accents shift smoothly and sequentially. The creative approach of Calvin Klein comes through in details that define the fragrance identity. Every decision feels deliberate, and the composition keeps a clear direction. Eau de toilette sets a balanced rhythm of unfolding.

In the first seconds you meet sparkling citrus first notes: Green Mandarin, Guarana and Wormwood.

At the core of development you detect Clary Sage, Fir Resin and Vetiver holding a noble herbal direction.

The accord architecture is shaped by these accords: Balsamic, Aromatic, Citrus and Gourmet forming a compact and readable structure. Additional accords such as Wood, Leather and Spicy expand the olfactory volume in the background. The profile is masculine, which clarifies the composition character. In wear duration Middle points to a sustained drydown presence.

At olfactory-group level the structure relies on Citrus, Fruit, Green and Aromatic. It also reaches into Balsamic, Wood, Leather and Gourmet.

Taken together Dark Obsession holds a coherent structure — the first stage creates momentum, the central phase adds depth, and the base secures the trail. This is the type of composition best judged through real development.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

Beautiful, but too complicated, definitely not for everyone. The smell of bitter resins, essential fir oil, and some bitterness with vanilla - it's all too much. It practically screams about itself, as if it wants everyone to look at it 😒
