Cartier Le Baiser du Dragon: the dragon's kiss in the world of fragrances

Released in 2003, the perfume Cartier Le Baiser du Dragon immediately captivated the hearts of luxury connoisseurs.

This fragrance, whose name translates to 'Dragon's Kiss', is part of the eponymous collection Le Baiser Du Dragon and reflects the brand's legendary heritage — a synonym of impeccable taste and French luxury since 1847.

Cartier entered the world of perfumery in 1981, and Le Baiser du Dragon became one of those releases that highlight its jewelry aesthetics in fragrances.

Unveiling the composition: from temptation to depth

The fragrance begins its journey with a tempting start, where almond and amaretto create a sweet-nutty chord, complemented by the tenderness of gardenia and the freshness of neroli.

In the heart of the composition, floral and woody notes unfold: iris and rose intertwine with jasmine, and cedar and musk add warmth and sensuality.

The base of the fragrance immerses into luxurious depth with amber, benzoin, and sweet accents of caramel and dark chocolate, balanced by patchouli, vetiver, and white cedar.

For whom and how to wear this fragrance

Le Baiser du Dragon is positioned as a feminine fragrance, perfectly suited for confident girls and women who appreciate elegance with a touch of mystery.

Its medium trail ensures a noticeable yet unobtrusive presence, making it versatile for evening outings or special occasions.

In the form of eau de parfum, it offers balanced longevity, and for those who want to explore other options, an alternative concentration Cartier Le Baiser du Dragon is available.

If you like this fragrance, pay attention to similar compositions: Narciso Rodriguez Narciso Rouge, Narciso Rodriguez Narciso, and Antonio Banderas Her Secret Temptation.

The master behind the composition: Alberto Morillas

The author of this masterpiece is the legendary perfumer Alberto Morillas, whose talent turned Le Baiser du Dragon into an embodiment of luxury and complexity.

His work highlights how Cartier successfully transfers jewelry precision into the world of fragrances, creating perfumes that, like jewels, become timeless accessories.

This release strengthened the brand's reputation as a creator of refined oriental fragrances, belonging to the Oriental family.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

The scent is really interesting. It combines alcoholic notes with nuts, and woody tartness and patchouli add mystery. The warmth and comfort it brings create an atmosphere of joy. The longevity is simply outstanding 😌

This fragrance is a true extravaganza! I remember trying it for the first time seven years ago. One bottle is almost empty, and the second is already on its way. This perfume definitely attracts men's attention. I adore its fruity note, it's so rich and a little nostalgic. Almond and chocolate aren't noticeable; it's more like gardenia petals accidentally ended up in a glass of Amaretto with ice. Very fresh and delicious, even with a hint of sophistication, but don't forget it can be deceptive. As soon as the sweet amber appears, a feeling of slight intoxication washes over you, the scent becomes warmer and evokes a surge of tenderness in those around you. Everyone becomes so attentive and sociable - just a party for the soul!!! 🎉

For me, this is a real gourmand find. The fragrance reminds me of chocolate candies with an alcoholic surprise inside. It's sweet, as if it lingers, and there's something intoxicating about it ))

The fragrance is simply amazing, it makes you smile and fills you with calm. You can feel there's something special, almost magical about it. I can't help but wonder how the combination of these notes can affect your mood so much. Warm amaretto, bitter almond, and sweet chocolate create incredible harmony, while floral accents add lightness. This fragrance is full of charm, its longevity is off the charts, and the sillage. Well, I wouldn't say it's completely absent, but it's like it embraces me, unwilling to leave. In the end, it's my personal way of dealing with bad days

The scent is simply stunning, it truly captivates with its depth. There's something mystical about it that makes it unique. On me, it unfolds as sweet almond with notes of bitter chocolate, creating an atmosphere of coziness. I just didn't think when I decided to wear it to work - my mood immediately soured, everything around seemed insignificant. I just wanted to get comfortable with a cup of tea and a good book, not run errands 😌

This perfume just disappointed me. At first, it seems bitter, but in reality, it's just almond and patchouli that press on your brain. And then, when it starts to open up, some sweetness appears, but it doesn't bring joy, rather it causes disgust. It's awful that my friend perceives it as the smell of medicine - it's just a nightmare!! In cold weather, it doesn't warm you, but instead creates a feeling of heaviness. The longevity also leaves much to be desired - the sillage is barely perceptible, as if it's not even there. In general, I don't recommend it

A few years ago, when I was really into India, this perfume was a real discovery for me. The almond is super bright, and the bitter sweetness of chocolate and woody notes create an interesting cocktail. Even though a couple of times people told me it smelled like grandma's stuff, well, as they say, to each their own. This perfume is really long-lasting and leaves a trail that you could even call magical. It's like it adjusts to my mood, or maybe I adjust to it. Either way, it's a worthy choice, but not for everyone ))

I have this perfumed lotion from Cartier Le Baiser Du Dragon, and I just don't understand what this smell is. I don't detect any amaretto or almond, just some kind of Chinese incense sticks with sandalwood 🤷‍♀️

The fragrance is indeed complex, and I haven't been able to bring myself to wear it for several months. On one hand, the notes of almond, dark chocolate, and amaretto are appealing, but sometimes the almond is so dominant that the other notes just get lost. This perfume has its own special mood. It's exactly like a dragon - powerful and mysterious

A perfume that immediately captivates! From the very first breath, you feel how it envelops you in warmth. Spices and amaretto create an incredible almond accent. Patchouli, benzoin, and caramel add interesting nuances. And amber and chocolate truly make it cozy and pleasant to wear!!!

I heard this perfume was discontinued, but yesterday I checked the Cartier website and found 100 ml for $150. So, it turns out it's not available for regular sale for us Russians. But in European and American online stores, you can find it at quite high prices, unlike our few spots where it's sold 😊

I have a 2011 bottle, and when I found out it was discontinued, I immediately decided to buy another one. I didn't even think I might get a new formulation, didn't pay attention to the cap. When the parcel was already on its way, I stumbled upon information about a new release and changes in the scent. I didn't want to believe it had changed. I don't see obvious differences between the old and new, yes, there's something, but I can't quite pinpoint it. In the old scent, the vetiver note is more pronounced, it seems a bit warmer and more harmonious. The new version looks simpler and seems less long-lasting, probably by half!!! But I still love it and I'm glad I bought it. If I get the chance, I'll get another bottle. My long 7-year search for a fragrance has finally ended. Or, at least, paused

The fragrance is truly impressive. It's rich, with deep notes that create a sense of luxury. Almond and flowers combined with a light alcoholic nuance give it a special twist. The sweetness of caramel harmonizes perfectly with woody accents, and the patchouli and vetiver base adds longevity and depth. Overall, it's a very feminine and multifaceted perfume that leaves a vivid impression

How attractive it is! By feeling, it's something like a poisonous kiss, as the smell resembles potassium cyanide. This is probably one of the most memorable almond fragrances, chic and beautiful, with bitter chocolate and soft coniferous notes. I simply adore it, this fragrance is perfect for creating a special mood for a night out

I compared the ODP fragrances from 2007 and 2012. I sprayed two spritzes on each wrist to avoid distorting my perception. I immediately noticed that the 2007 version sounds richer and deeper. The notes seem to form similar bouquets, but in 2007, there are more of them, they feel fuller. If we talk about the sound, the 2007 has more noticeable bass, it's brighter and more powerful, though not by a huge margin.

In my opinion, the 2012 version falls a bit short. The scent seems less stable, lacking some kind of foundation to hold the composition together. It's softer and smoother; even milky notes are heard around the 20-minute mark, resembling green almond, more pronounced than in 2007.

The 2012 develops faster, while the milky note appears later in 2007. Cedar is more noticeable in 2007, the resinous quality is brighter. The 2012 has colder floral notes and lacks woodiness. Chocolate appears earlier in 2012, and after that, the differences are almost imperceptible, except that 2007 is slightly brighter and woodier. But these are such minor details that perhaps they weren't worth mentioning.

Today, the Dragon revealed an unexpected side to me. Deep within the fragrance, when you inhale the familiar chocolatey-woody notes, it suddenly becomes milky-green-floral with a slight bitterness. Such strange metamorphoses
