The lily here is mineral, but not quite. The main notes are lily and vanilla. And this is why Capeline struck me so much. Lily notes are common in perfumery; they are present in many white floral and floral-aquatic fragrances, even if the manufacturer doesn't declare them. In Capeline, the lily is presented in a classic floral-aquatic style, but with an unexpected treatment-with salt and a bright mineral note.
Karagueuzoglou creates an effect where the nose perceives sea salt crystals on the petals of yellow lilies. Yes, yellow ones. The perfumer managed to convey not only the scent but also tactile sensations, creating a contrast between the roughness of the salt and the tenderness of the petals. But for complete magic, the main accord was needed-fresh, creamy, viscous vanilla, which, like sunlight, pours onto the bright flower.
Capeline, in my opinion, brought together the best of three fragrances: Charogne Etat Libre d’Orange, Lys Fume Tom Ford, and Lys Mediterranee Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle. The first gave the idea of vanilla sweetness, but in Antoine Maisondieu's work, this sweetness is not only vanilla but also waxy. Capeline, however, is devoid of this murky grime.
