Fragrance information:

In 2014, Diptyque introduced Geranium Odorata — a fragrance that's hard to forget. A unisex fragrance belonging to the wood family. Perfumer Myriam Badault poured every ounce of mastery into this one. By character, it falls into the floral, spicy, and wood groups. Available as eau de toilette.

It carries a moderate sillage, leaving a trail that lingers pleasantly in the air. Expect high longevity: it stays close to the skin for hours. The home of this fragrance is France. Geranium Odorata Diptyque — the choice of those who appreciate depth and character in every detail.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Geranium Odorata evolves as an expressive line of development, where notes flow smoothly and sequentially. The creative approach of Diptyque is clear in details that define the fragrance identity. No excess details, only what works, and the composition keeps a clear direction. Eau de toilette sets a balanced rhythm of unfolding.

At the note-group layer the structure relies on Floral, Spicy and Wood. From a family perspective the scent maps to Wood.

Without strict stage separation the fragrance opens as a single chord with a peppery-spicy mood: Cardamom, Geranium, Tonka bean and Vetiver.

The middle and base stages are perceived as a gradual shift without abrupt breaks, which preserves the scent identity through drydown.

The accord profile rests on these accords: Gourmet, Floral, Wood and Spicy with each one in a clear role. The profile is unisex, which sharpens how the fragrance is perceived. In wear duration High points to a sustained drydown presence. In diffusion Middle shows the style of diffusion around the wearer.

In summary Geranium Odorata reads as a cohesive composition — the opening sets direction, the central phase adds depth, and the base secures the trail. This is the type of composition best judged in wear.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Geranium in this fragrance smells quite bright, but with a slight sweetness that somewhat softens its character. Vetiver is also present, but despite this sweetness, I don't see myself wearing this scent. It seems more suited for a man. Overall, it's quite an interesting combination

The geranium is simply amazing! It's not standard at all, but rather sweetish and a bit schematic. The fragrance is more herbaceous, with light notes of geranium and a coolness. Honestly, I'd wear it when I want to play a bit with others' perception, hiding my kind nature. This perfume adds mystery and a touch of mischief to the image. But be careful, it might unexpectedly give off something stale. What exactly - I don't know, maybe it's just my association with something from the past. Perhaps with the scent left on the skin after cheap cigarettes. Others don't notice it, but I do - only in the heat. I don't use it often, it's like an outsider. But sometimes I really want to dive into waves of geranium and sweetness, find a note of oxidized metal and the taste of a melted popsicle there. A very complex fragrance! )

How much I love this geranium! It's so distinctly felt, yet at the same time so strange, that even I, who never liked that smelly herb growing on my grandmother's windowsill, start to think the scent is really cool!!! Memories of something past wash over me, and suddenly you realize it's not just a flower

The scent reminds me of mint with raspberry, but this combination is truly exquisite for summer, with a slight piquancy. Vetiver was also added, and I didn't recognize it at first. It's interesting that it's not in its usual role here, but immediately at the forefront 🌞
