Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Mad Hatter is shaped as a continuous scent journey, where layers reveal themselves without rush and without gaps. The signature of Edgardio Chilini is clear in the way notes appear and fade. No excess details, only what works, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Perfume extract supports the right density and pace of development.

In a unified mixed pyramid the notes arrive together with a noble cedar mood: Oud. In this format 1 note works as one voice, building clear woody framework that feels seamless.

The heart and base are felt as a smooth transition from opening to trail, which keeps the fragrance coherent.

The olfactory framework is built around these accords: Wood without random overlap. The stylistic positioning is unisex, which sharpens how the fragrance is perceived.

At olfactory-group level the structure relies on Wood. Within olfactory families the scent maps to Wood.

Overall Mad Hatter reads as a cohesive composition — the start forms character, the middle layer carries the identity, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint. These are the fragrances best understood on skin.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

This fragrance isn't quite oud for me. I perceive ouds differently. It's definitely woody, reminiscent of a forest thicket with its smells. There's something in it about a kind but sad person who lives in these woods. It reminds me of Serge Lutens' style, but not quite. Maybe something from "Girls on Heels" or "Five O'Clock", but it's not them. For those who appreciate such fragrances, it will be perfect. If I didn't know, I might think it was Lutens in a blind test )

I totally agree with Tatiana! Oud should be delicate, not intrusive, to harmonize with woody and coniferous notes. I get the feeling I'm walking through an autumn forest, surrounded by spruce and pine trees. The soil here is dry, and the grass has already yellowed. I smell tree bark, coniferous aromas, spicy herbs, and light notes of hay, as well as dry herbs that would be great for tea 🌲
