Identity and release history

Step into the enchanting universe of Givenchy, where elegance meets innovation with the launch of L'Interdit in 2018.

This fragrance is part of the exclusive L'Interdit collection, embodying the brand's legacy of Parisian sophistication that began with Hubert de Givenchy in 1952.

Known in Russia as L'Interdit, Interdit, or Interdi, it has captured hearts worldwide with its daring name that translates to "the forbidden," inviting you to break the rules with style.

As an Eau de Parfum, it offers a rich and lasting scent experience, perfect for those who seek a statement fragrance.

Belonging to the floral and oriental families, L'Interdit blends floral allure with oriental depth, making it a versatile choice for various occasions, from romantic evenings to confident daytime wear.

Positioning and how to wear it

Designed as a women's fragrance, L'Interdit radiates confidence and femininity, with a noticeable trail that leaves an unforgettable impression.

For optimal wearability, experts recommend using the enter the cloud technique on skin, allowing the scent to develop beautifully, while on clothing, 1 to 2 sprays suffice to maintain its elegance throughout the day.

This fragrance shines in evening settings or special events, but its balanced composition makes it suitable for cooler seasons when its warmth can be fully appreciated, offering a cozy and sophisticated touch to any outfit.

The creators behind the magic

The artistic genius behind L'Interdit comes from a trio of renowned perfumers: Anne Flipo, Dominique Ropion, and Fanny Bal.

Their collaboration has crafted a scent that reflects Givenchy's daring spirit, influencing the brand's perfume portfolio with a modern twist on classic elements and solidifying its place in contemporary perfumery.

If you adore L'Interdit, you might also enjoy exploring similar scents like Gucci Gucci Bloom, Givenchy Ange ou Demon, or Givenchy Ange ou Demon Le Secret Elixir for more floral-oriental adventures.

Additionally, there's an alternative concentration available: Givenchy L'Interdit, offering variations on this beloved theme for those who crave different intensities.

Description of the composition

The olfactory journey of Givenchy L'Interdit begins with a bright and inviting top note, featuring sparkling bergamot and juicy pear that instantly uplift the senses.

As it settles, the heart reveals a lush bouquet of floral notes, including sensual jasmine, delicate orange blossom (fleur d'orange), and intoxicating tuberose, adding a creamy and feminine depth.

The base anchors the fragrance with warm ambroxan, earthy patchouli, sweet vanilla, and woody vetiver, ensuring a long-lasting and seductive dry-down.

This intricate pyramid draws from diverse note groups such as ambery, citrus, fruit, gourmet, whiteflower, and woody, creating a rich and complex scent that evolves beautifully on the skin, from a fresh opening to a cozy and memorable finish.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

This fragrance has a sweet and juicy grape that's just captivating! Light notes of vanilla and cream add tenderness, and powdery tuberose gives it a special charm. It's really bright and long-lasting, especially on cold autumn days, I just adore it! 🍇

A sweet white floral scent, where tuberose clearly dominates. It's too intrusive and long-lasting, as if it won't let go. In the base, there's a cloying caramel, and the floral notes linger on the skin like a heavy memory

A beautiful fragrance. I'll definitely add it to my favorites. It reminded me of discovering the world of perfumery for the first time in the 90s with Givenchy. Perfect for the autumn-winter season 🍂

The fragrance didn't impress me at all, and it's not because it's fashionable to criticize new releases right now. Patchouli in perfumery isn't for me, although I have a few fragrances with this note in my collection, but they smell very faint. L'Interdit is clearly for those who adore bright, screaming patchouli. I never caught the grape that was promised. In the end, just some vague sweetness with a hint of old powder and the feeling of an abandoned chest 😒

The opening is truly intriguing - sometimes wild strawberry, sometimes Isabella grape, and sometimes even wine notes, as if a little "tipsy" 🍷 But, unfortunately, that's where all the good things end. There's no development of the fragrance, I don't smell any floral notes at all, the berries quickly disappear, and the base leaves much to be desired - something unclear, reminiscent of laundry detergent 😕 Longevity on my skin - a maximum of 1-2 hours

The opening of this fragrance is truly impressive, as if you're entering a world of ripe berries. But alas, the joy only lasts about ten minutes. Then tuberose and patchouli come to the forefront, creating a rather heavy atmosphere. The scent is bright, but it's best to apply it carefully, otherwise you might overdo it 😔

At first, it annoyed me with its obtrusiveness, it felt like it was everywhere. But when I applied it, it unfolded simply stunningly. Especially in autumn, with the wind and dampness, it smells particularly vibrant 🍂

Today, this perfume surprised me with its development. On the street and at work, I often catch its sillage, but today it revealed itself completely differently. Powdery notes of white flowers became noticeable, although from the sample, I only expected Isabella tuberose. As a result, I felt a desire to purchase this fragrance for myself

What can I say - it's one step from love to hate. The main thing is not to overdo it. If you spray too much, you can suffocate, and those around you will feel uncomfortable. But if used sparingly, the fragrance is truly delightful. First flowers, then a sweet scent of grape and wild strawberry appears, and finally, patchouli is felt. Not bad at all

What a cool bottle, simply gorgeous! I'll definitely try this scent. I hope the new version doesn't disappoint, as the brand has already proven itself

L'Interdit 2018 is, of course, a response to fragrances from Chanel, Dior, and Guerlain, but it noticeably differs from them. The quality here is top-notch. Givenchy offered a floral composition, but chose a different path than, for example, Gucci. If Michele had one perfumer, Givenchy had three working on it - that already says a lot.

The fragrance And the World is Yours by A Lab on Fire recently came out, and I was surprised to notice something similar to its sweet, deep orange blossom in L'Interdit. But what Ropion allowed himself would have been too risky for Givenchy. In the new fragrance, orange blossom became less intense and spicy; it was replaced by lighter fruity notes that resemble either a honeyed apple or lychee. Jasmine adds depth, but there's a strange aquatic nuance in the composition that's a bit confusing.

Tuberose here is just a light creamy accent that gets lost in the overall sweetness. The fragrance is indeed sweet, and in the heat, it might even feel sticky. The musky-amber accord is also present, but it's more transparent and woody, which gives the fragrance an oriental character.

I'm glad that the orange blossom from A Lab on Fire found its continuation in luxury. Here, it sounds lighter and even playful, as if telling its own story. This accord was a bit distracting when I tested it in Europe, but it didn't manifest in St. Petersburg. Perhaps it's worth trying in the summer.

Overall, L'Interdit is a quality fragrance with character that, in my opinion, surpasses its competitors. But I would still prefer the more complex And the World is Yours - a fragrance I would call "Fragrance of the Year." It's a shame it hasn't been released for sale yet. As for Givenchy's new release, it's worth trying for those who appreciate Ropion's work, as his mastery with orange blossom made L'Interdit 201

The fragrance, it would seem, consists of ordinary notes. But you only have to inhale it once, and you immediately understand how captivating it is, you want to return to it again and again!! Lately, it has become one of my favorites. The sillage is simply amazing and incredibly long-lasting. The composition is successful, it smells expensive both to me and to those around me

Citrus caramel with tuberose. Not as sweet as is currently fashionable in luxury perfumes, but also not as unpleasant as many niche fragrances. Overall, I found it quite good and even interesting )

In my opinion, the fragrance turned out quite sweet, but not in the usual sense. Here, you can feel warm notes of vanilla and tonka bean, which create a cozy impression. Although there are also light fresh accents, overall it leaves a feeling of cloying sweetness, reminiscent of Black Opium and Mon Paris by YSL. The bottle color really harmonizes with this perfume

This fragrance gives me mixed feelings. On one hand, it really lifts my spirits, but on the other - there's something strange about it. I mostly smell jasmine and orange blossom, but at first, it reminded me of strawberry cream from my childhood, which is a bit confusing 🤔
