The Character and History of the Fragrance

Guess Type 2: Red Currant & Balsam is a 2023 unisex Eau de Parfum.

The release is part of the Guess Originals: What's Your Type? collection and continues the brand's signature aesthetic: carefree, sunny and relaxed, yet expressive enough for everyday wear.

The fragrance universe of Guess was born under the California sun and has long been associated with denim culture, youth and a carefree spirit of adventure.

Type 2: Red Currant & Balsam reveals this DNA through the contrast between juicy red currant and a warm balsamic accord, creating a fragrance that feels fresh, soft and distinctively deep at the same time.

Development and Mood

The impression of Guess Type 2 is built around a transition from a bright fruity-citrusy opening to a calmer woody and resinous finish.

White-floral nuances add airiness to the composition, while woody, ambery, musky and mossy facets give it greater dimension and lend the drydown a gentle warmth.

This is a versatile fragrance for those who enjoy noticeable compositions that are not overly dense.

Its moderate sillage leaves a refined scented presence: Guess Type 2 is suitable for the office, a walk, meeting friends or a relaxed evening when you want to highlight your individuality without being too loud.

Who It Is For and When to Wear It

Guess Type 2: Red Currant & Balsam is presented as a unisex fragrance and can sound equally natural on women's and men's skin.

Its fruity-balsamic character is especially well suited to spring and autumn looks. However, thanks to its fresh opening and comfortable base, the fragrance can be worn at any time of year, depending on your mood and the amount applied.

Just 1 to 2 sprays on the skin are enough for the composition to unfold gradually while maintaining a delicate, moderate sillage.

On clothing, 2 to 3 sprays can be used, after first checking how the fabric reacts to the Eau de Parfum and keeping a small distance from the material.

Similar Fragrances

If you enjoy a combination of fruity freshness, transparent green nuances and a soft base, you may want to explore Elizabeth Arden Green Tea next.

It is also worth comparing Guess Type 2 with Paco Rabanne 1 Million Lucky and Franck Boclet Ylang Ylang. These compositions differ in mood, but each may appeal to lovers of expressive modern fragrances with a distinctive character.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. Amber and balsamics come through well. No redcurrant, but that's fine. Spicy-warm, moderately sweet, not cloying

At first I didn't understand the fragrance at all, then I applied a little more. After a while it opened with pleasant flowers and sweet blackcurrant, but about an hour later this part disappeared, giving way to a dense balm. After that it's simply sweet and cloying in places. I don't smell bandages, although some call it a lighter version of Baccarat. I can't stand Baccarat itself, but I quite liked this one
