Discover Folie Rouge

Folie Rouge by Isabel Derroisné / ID Parfums is a vibrant, daring women's fragrance launched in 2013.

Created by the talented perfumer Delphine Jelk, it instantly became a manifesto of passion and vitality.

Its name, which translates as “Mad Red,” fully reflects its character: an olfactory firework display for women who are not afraid to be the centre of attention.

Isabel Derroisné / ID Parfums is a French niche brand with soul and history. Founded in 1996 by Isabelle Derroisné, it is known for bold compositions that break stereotypes.

Folie Rouge is a vivid expression of this philosophy, combining floral delicacy with woody boldness to create the portrait of a modern, charismatic woman.

The fragrance belongs to the floral and woody families, with musky, white-floral and woody accents.

It has moderate sillage—noticeable enough to be memorable, yet never overpowering. Perfect for evening outings and festive occasions, it evokes a sense of luxury and confidence.

If you love Folie Rouge, explore similar compositions: Juliette Has A Gun Romantina, Henri Bendel Jasmine & Tuberose, and Guerlain Un Dimanche à la Campagne.

Each reveals a facet of the same sensual playfulness. Discover the brand’s full collection on the official Isabel Derroisné / ID Parfums website.

Description of the composition

Fragrance Pyramid

The top notes of Folie Rouge greet us with the sparkling freshness of bergamot and the piquant spice of thyme. This duo creates a bold, energetic opening.

At the heart of the composition, delicate orange blossom unfolds, intertwined with powdery violet and soft, almost creamy rice.

The base is warm and sensual: white musk envelops the skin, patchouli adds depth, while tonka beans leave a sweet, vanilla-like trail.

This is a multi-layered story that unfolds gradually, revealing new facets with every passing hour.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

2
Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

This fragrance is simply awful. The powdery notes seem too intrusive, and the milky and spicy ones add a certain heaviness that weighs on your mind. Longevity? Yes, but that's not a plus when you want to get rid of this nightmare as quickly as possible. The sillage it leaves only makes the situation worse. I don't recommend it 😒

At first they seem powdery, and I thought it was something familiar, but then I realized the cherry just bursts free here. These perfumes are definitely not for everyday wear, but rather for an evening when you want to stand out

I've been on a two-day binge with Folie Rouge, and it looks like I'll be wearing it again tomorrow)) Its mood reminds me of Lalique's Encre Noire for women, although their notes are completely different. Both fragrances, Encre Noire and Folie Rouge, smell similar on me - not too loud, but noticeable, and they have that "corporeality" that I just adore. And as for the scent? It's rice powder with cumin, violet, musk, and a hint of citrus. There's no "folie" and certainly no "rouge" in it. On me, it looks pinkish-beige and cozy)) 🌸
