Perfume information

Description of the composition

The olfactory structure of Junky unfolds as a cohesive olfactory arc, where layers reveal themselves without rush and without gaps. The creative approach of Jardins d’Écrivains comes through in the pacing of the notes and the overall aesthetic. Every decision feels deliberate, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Eau de parfum keeps a balanced rhythm of unfolding.

At olfactory-group level the composition is built around Green, Wood, Whiteflower and Floral. It also reaches into Musk, Balsamic, Earthy / Mossy and Gourmet. At family level the composition sits in East and Wood.

At the opening of the pyramid you catch grassy-green opening notes: Galbanum, Hemp and Rosewood.

At the core of development you meet Gardenia, Iris and Violet holding a velvety rose-iris direction.

The olfactory framework is driven by these accords: Balsamic, Aromatic, Floral and Musc forming a compact and readable structure. Secondary accord layers such as Wood and Powdery expand the olfactory volume in the background.

In summary Junky sounds complete from start to finish — the first stage creates momentum, the middle layer carries the identity, while the drydown anchors the memory. These are the fragrances best judged on skin.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Very conspicuous

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

"I wasn't interested in Harvard - I didn't want to be a successful adman or anything like that. But after I encountered addiction in New York in 1944, my life changed drastically," William Burroughs shared in an interview with Conrad Knickerbocker in 1965. He had already gained fame through works such as "Naked Lunch," "Queer," and "Junkie," the last of which inspired the creation of a fragrance by the niche brand Jardins D’Ecrivains. Anaïs Biguine, the founder of the brand, develops the fragrances herself, and Junky was no exception. In his autobiography, Burroughs, hiding under the pseudonym William Lee, soberly and accurately described the underground realities of the post-war era and criticized consumer society. The fragrance, dedicated to his book, delights with an elegant woody-green composition, intertwining vetiver roots and truffle gardenia. And, of course, there's a cannabis note here - the smell of a smoked joint with a pungent, smoky, sweet-and-sour undertone. Junky immediately sets the atmosphere: the air in the room is dry, it smells of wood, the sun melts the windows, and Mac DeMarco's voice splashes from the speakers like sea waves )
