Description of the composition

The olfactory structure of Extreme Patchouli unfolds as an expressive line of development, where layers reveal themselves smoothly and sequentially. The signature of Louis Varel is clear in the way notes appear and fade. No excess details, only what works, and the composition keeps a clear direction. Eau de parfum supports the right density and pace of development.

In the top tier you sense juicy fruity top notes: Grain, Jasmine and Rose. These 3 notes form playful berry energy that is impossible to miss.

In the middle phase you sense Guaiac wood, Light woods, Patchouli and Vetiver carrying a structural woody direction. In the base the composition is fixed through Ambergris, Ambroxan, Patchouli and Tonka bean, extending a dense amber trail.

The profile is masculine, which clarifies the composition character.

From the group perspective the composition is built around Fruit, Whiteflower, Floral and Wood. The palette also extends to Ambery, Spicy and Gourmet. Within olfactory families the composition sits in East and Wood.

Overall Extreme Patchouli sounds complete from start to finish — the opening sets direction, the heart develops the core line, and the base secures the trail. This is the type of composition best understood in wear.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Very conspicuous

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

Honestly, it's all confusing with this one. First, it's just overwhelmed by patchouli, so green and damp, and then suddenly citruses pop out, even reminding me a bit of Light Blue. I can't figure out what it's even about, it's complex, but at the same time too simple 😅
