Oriflame Ascendant: Identity and History

Dear perfume lovers, allow us to introduce you to the men's fragrance Oriflame Ascendant, which was released in 2007 and is part of the eponymous Ascendant collection.

This perfume was created under the direction of the talented Vincent Schaller and reflects the Scandinavian ideals of the Oriflame brand, known for its commitment to naturalness and quality since 1967.

Character and Positioning

Ascendant is the embodiment of masculinity and energy, ideally suited for young men who value sophistication and self-control.

The fragrance belongs to the fougère and woody families, giving it noble depth and freshness.

Its medium trail ensures an unobtrusive yet memorable presence, making it versatile for various scenarios—from daily wear to special moments.

Practical Aspects

In the concentration of eau de toilette, Ascendant offers balanced longevity and lightness.

For optimal effect, it is recommended to apply 1 to 2 sprays on the skin or 1 to 2 sprays on clothing, allowing the fragrance to gently unfold throughout the day without being overwhelming.

Authorship and Context

The work of Vincent Schaller brought to Ascendant a masterful blend of notes, which enhanced Oriflame's reputation as a brand that creates affordable and high-quality perfumery.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Oriflame Ascendant begins with a bright and energetic start, where bergamot, cardamom, fennel, ginger, grapefruit and mandarin create a refreshing citrus-spicy symphony.

In the heart of the composition, green and aromatic chords unfold with lavender, rosemary and wormwood (artemisia), adding herbal freshness and depth.

The base of the fragrance wraps with warm and woody notes, including cypress, tonka bean, vanilla, vetiver and white cedar, which provide a lasting and cozy finish, perfectly balancing between classic and modern.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

What an amazing scent! It's sweet and spicy, with bright cardamom and delicate lavender. Suitable for men over 30. A great choice for everyday wear on autumn or spring days 🍂

The scent is really cool, even though I usually don't trust catalog perfumes. My husband got a bottle as a gift, and he uses it sometimes. Honestly, sometimes the sillage of this perfume is more pleasing than that of expensive brands. What an interesting point 😄

The fragrance combines wormwood, spices, lavender, and citruses. It's cold and stylish, with a slight hint of arrogance. But what's interesting is that I detect coffee-chocolate nuances, most likely tonka beans. They add warmth to the overall composition. I like such scents on men. The color black perfectly emphasizes its essence 🖤

In my opinion, this fragrance is more suitable for men over 30; for younger men, it might seem unnatural. It has the sweetness of flowers and vanilla, as well as the freshness of wormwood and geranium. It smells quite pleasant, making you want to inhale it again and again, though, honestly, there's something a little overused about it!!!

The citrus scent is too sharp, nothing in it catches my attention. It feels kind of empty and mundane 😔

The perfume, in my opinion, is quite banal and unexpressive. It clearly belongs to the category of woody fragrances, with cloying sweet and vanilla accents that, honestly, are quite tiresome by now. I don't feel anything outstanding in it: musk is noticeable, but the longevity leaves much to be desired, and the sillage, though pleasant, isn't capable of surprising. The pyramid, of course, looks impressive and promising, but in the end, it's just a deceptive impression

This scent is simply unbearable. Spicy, yes, but the sweetness is kind of disgusting, like alcohol with wood. Chocolate notes? Nah, they're totally out of place here. It smells in such a way that you can't understand what the manufacturer wanted to convey. All in all, a complete disappointment )

The smell is just awful, too sharp and bitter, like someone decided to make a fresh scent on the verge of hysteria. There are so many citruses here it makes your head spin, and the herbs just jump into your nose. And that slight resinous aftertaste. Ugh, how disgusting! In the end, it becomes sweet, but still remains so pungent it's simply unbearable ))

The fragrance is calm, with citrus and spicy notes, and a sweetish undertone adds interest. Overall, it's pleasant and doesn't cause discomfort, but, honestly, it's not for young guys 🌟

The scent quickly became quite annoying and flat. Its sweetness was just too much. The bottle, of course, tries to make an impression, but in reality, it doesn't save it. I see no point in spending money on Avon or Oriflame - it's not even worth trying

The smell is sweet, spicy, and very lively. At the same time, it's quite soft. I think it will fit perfectly into any masculine style, the main thing is that it doesn't look cheap and feels good on the skin. Plus, it will probably help balance a hot-tempered personality
