Red Leather, crafted by Paul Kiler

PK Perfumes is a brand created by American alchemist Paul Kiler, known for his love of bold, technically complex compositions.

In 2012, he launched Red Leather, an eau de parfum that instantly became a cult favorite among niche fragrance connoisseurs.

This is a unisex fragrance with a prominent sillage, belonging to the Leather family. It was created by the founder himself, Paul Kiler.

A burning character: how Red Leather unfolds

From the very first spray, Red Leather makes a bold, passionate statement. This is not simply leather—it is leather infused with rum, spices, and smoke.

At the heart of the fragrance lie rich accords of leather, rose, and rum, intertwined with the animalic notes of castoreum and civet.

Tart wormwood and spicy bay leaf add a green bitterness, while red cedar and patchouli create a warm woody base. This is a statement fragrance: vivid, sensual, and slightly dangerous.

Who should wear Red Leather, and when

Red Leather is the perfect choice for those who are not afraid to stand out. On women, it feels especially provocative, baring its claws; on men, it is more restrained, yet still daring.

It unfolds best in cool weather and for evening occasions: dates, parties, and the theater.

Its trail lingers and leaves a lasting impression, so 2–3 sprays on the skin are enough to make your mark.

Use it more cautiously on clothing—the fragrance may leave oily stains and lasts exceptionally well.

What to compare it with and where to find it

If you have fallen for Red Leather, consider similar niche releases: Siordia Parfums Ginger Rom, with its spicy rum character; Jacques Bogart Furyo, a more aggressive leather fragrance; and Naomi Goodsir Corpus Equus, a smoky leather unisex scent with a tobacco nuance.

Perfume information

Description of the composition

The Red Leather composition is a complex accord of more than 20 ingredients, with a leather accord taking center stage, framed by spices and animalic notes.

The top notes—although no official pyramid has been specified—open with tart pink grapefruit and piquant pink pepper, swiftly giving way to a floral-spicy heart of rose, clove, neroli, and ylang-ylang.

The base is rich and warm: red cedar, teakwood, patchouli, and amber envelop the senses, while castoreum and civet lend an animalic sensuality.

Completing the composition are buchu, davana, rhubarb, and rum, creating a unique cocktail of boldness and elegance.
