Identity and Release History

Welcome to the world of sweet dreams with Viktor & Rolf Bonbon Pastel, an eau de toilette that envelops with tenderness and playfulness.

This fragrance, released in 2019, is part of the iconic COLLECTION BONBON from the Dutch fashion house Viktor & Rolf.

The brand, founded by Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, is renowned for its provocative and poetic approach to haute couture, and Bonbon Pastel embodies this philosophy in a light, pastel interpretation.

The fragrance is positioned as female and belongs to the Floral and Sweet families, making it ideal for those seeking a balance between tenderness and sensuality.

In the Eau de Toilette format, it offers a fresh and light resonance, perfect for daily wear in warm seasons or for creating a mood of lighthearted carefreeness.

Creators and Influence

Behind the creation of this magical fragrance is the talented perfumer Cécile Matton, known for her ability to combine classic notes with modern accents.

Her work on Bonbon Pastel reflects a subtle understanding of femininity, adding a note of playful elegance to the Viktor & Rolf collection, reinforcing the brand's reputation as an innovator in the world of perfumery.

The fragrance unfolds as a pastel tale: it begins with bright citrus bursts, transitions into a floral heart with aquatic shades, and concludes with a warm, cozy base.

It is suitable for spring and summer days, dates, or moments when you want to add a bit of sweet joy to life.

Although data on sillage and specific recommendations for dosage on skin or clothing are lacking, its light concentration suggests moderate application for a natural and unobtrusive effect.

Description of the composition

The fragrance pyramid of Viktor & Rolf Bonbon Pastel is a skillful journey from freshness to coziness.

In the top notes, an energetic duo of bergamot and mandarin reigns, complemented by a spicy hint of cardamom, which sets a playful start.

The heart of the composition unfolds with delicate floral accents: orange blossom (neroli) and neroli intertwine with a refreshing aquatic chord, creating a feeling of lightness and transparency.

In the base, the fragrance gains depth thanks to warm amber, sweet caramel, soothing sandalwood, and delicate musk, which leaves a soft, enveloping trail on the skin.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. Flowers and citruses in this fragrance, and the delicate caramel and spices add an interesting touch. The spices, by the way, make it special among others. Longevity is also not bad, but whether I like it or not - I can't say yet 🤔

My introduction to this fragrance left me perplexed. These 'bows' - well, I don't know, they're kind of strange, some I like, others I really don't. The notes present here raise questions, as I haven't encountered anything like this before. Cardamom and aquatic notes? Seriously? I wonder how they'll combine with floral caramel, and if they'll spoil the whole thing

Bonbon in a simplified version. Caramel and honeyed flowers are present, but in reasonable proportions. The sweetness is noticeable, but it sounds soft and doesn't overwhelm 🍬

The sweetness here is quite soft. Aquatic notes are not so obvious, but they add freshness, which makes the caramel less cloying. Citrus accents sound very harmonious, as if from some dessert 🍰
