Jordi Fernandez is one of the most sought-after and prolific contemporary perfumers, whose talent blossomed within the walls of the legendary company Givaudan. His career is a striking example of how a master can work with equal virtuosity in both niche and mass market perfumery, creating fragrances that become bestsellers and are recognized by connoisseurs around the world. From his debut with an independent brand to iconic collaborations with industry giants, Fernandez's path is filled with interesting twists and turns and landmark works.
Perfumer Jordi Fernandez's biography as a creator of full-fledged fragrances began in 2010 with two works for the Spanish niche house Scent on Canvas: the mysterious Noir de Mars and the luxurious Rose Opera. These compositions immediately demonstrated his potential. However, the real breakthrough came in 2018 when he presented his first fragrance for the Parisian brand Ex Nihilo — the exquisite Brompton Immortals. This collaboration proved to be fateful and grew into a long and fruitful partnership that produced many hits.
Jordi Fernandez's style is difficult to limit to one direction — he is a master of multifaceted, technically flawless, and emotional compositions. His best perfumes often balance on the edge of classic elegance and modern boldness. His portfolio includes sensual floral bouquets, such as Rosa Galore for Attar Collection, bold amber and spicy accords, such as in Golden Wanderers, and juicy citrus freshness, embodied in the best-selling Montblanc Explorer. It is this versatility and ability to capture the spirit of the times that make his fragrances so popular.
The list of brands the perfumer has worked with is impressive in its diversity. In addition to his deep creative partnership with Ex Nihilo, which has given the world such masterpieces as Vendomania, Explicite, and the fantastical Outcast Blue, he has created fragrances for many other houses. He is the creator of fragrances for Versace (Vanille Rouge), Laura Biagiotti (Forever), Carner Barcelona, and the poetic Buveur de Vent for Les Liquides Imaginaires.
Jordi Fernandez's contribution to modern perfumery continues to grow with each new release. In 2021, he strengthened his position by creating two very different but equally successful fragrances: the refreshing and dynamic Montblanc Explorer Ultra Blue and the sunny and spicy Ammajante for Acqua di Sardegna. These works confirm his status not just as a technical "nose," but as a true aromatic storyteller, capable of embodying a wide variety of emotions and images in scents, for which he is so highly valued by true perfume lovers around the world.
