An unusual path to the perfume Olympus

Jacques Flory is a figure who proves that a passion for fragrances can manifest itself at any stage of life. His path to becoming a master nose at Robertet was full of unexpected twists and turns: before immersing himself in the world of molecules and accords, he was a professional yachtsman and even president of the Cannes Yacht Club. Three years of studying medicine only strengthened his analytical mind, which would later find its ideal application in perfumery. Once he entered the Robertet school, he found himself under the tutelage of Jean Mobere himself, one of the pillars of the industry, who became his mentor and opened the doors to the world of creativity.

The creator's signature style and philosophy

Jacques Flory's style can be described as refined complexity, in which one senses depth and impeccable mastery of the material. He skillfully works with floral and woody compositions, often adding gourmand or oriental accords to create a multifaceted sound. His perfumes are not just fragrances, but real stories, where each note occupies its ideal place. This talent for structuring complex bouquets has made him a sought-after creator for many niche and luxury brands.

The best and most famous fragrances by Jacques Flory

Throughout his career, the perfumer has given the world many iconic compositions. The cult floral chypre Balmain - Ivoire, created in collaboration with others, remains the benchmark for elegance. For the ambitious house of Amouage, he created the luxurious oriental Amouage - Opus IV, a fragrance that takes you on a journey. His collaboration with Reminiscence occupies a special place, for which he developed a whole series inspired by the musical scale: sensual Do Re, sunny Sol La, mysterious Si Do, and brutal Noir de Réminiscence.

Collaboration with leading perfume houses

Floris' expertise is highly valued in the industry. In addition to the aforementioned Amouage and Balmain, he has left his mark on the collections of such giants as Xerjoff (XJ Homme and Bouquet Ideale fragrances), Etro (New Tradition), Parfums de Marly, and Terry de Gunzburg. He also breathed new life into the historic house of Houbigant with the fragrance Orangers en Fleurs and created the iconic patchouli Jovoy Paris - Psychedelique.

Legacy and influence on the perfumery community

Jacques Flory is not only a creator but also a mentor. Taking over from Jean Mobere, he himself began teaching at Robertet, passing on his knowledge to a new generation of "noses." His late but brilliant start in the profession is inspiring, and his fragrances, from the exquisite M.INT - Ten Strike to the sensual creations for Reminiscence, regularly top user ratings and are the subject of heated discussions in the perfumery community. His work is a bridge between the classical school and contemporary niche trends.
