Biography and creative journey

Mazda Bekkali is one of the most vibrant and original contemporary perfumers, whose name has become synonymous with deep, narrative niche perfumery. Her journey is a story of the fusion of two worlds: the Moroccan heritage filled with spicy bazaars and cedar groves of Fez, where she was born, and the refined French perfumery culture that she absorbed after moving to Paris at the age of 18.

Mazda initially received a serious education in economics at the Sorbonne and Paris-Dauphine, which later gave her a solid foundation for business. However, her true calling has always been fragrances. In the 2000s, she headed the production department at Odeon Parfums, where she honed her understanding of the entire perfume creation cycle, from concept to marketing. This invaluable experience became a springboard for her own projects.

Brand foundation and signature style

In 2009, the world saw her debut brand, named after her — Majda Bekkali. From the very first releases, it became clear that these were not just perfumes, but sensual memories frozen in perfume form. A distinctive feature of her signature style is the mandatory inclusion of Atlas cedar essential oil in the composition — a noble note that connects each of her creations with memories of her childhood in Morocco.

Majda Bekkali's style is an intellectual play of contrasts: light and darkness, Eastern sensuality and Parisian elegance, abstract concepts and tangible emotions. Among the perfumer's iconic creations, the multifaceted Tulaytulah with its interplay of spices and fruits, the mysterious and languid Mudejar, as well as the refined floral Songe Pour Elle and the woody Songe Pour Lui are particularly loved by the community. A new chapter: the birth of Noème

Seeking even greater conceptual freedom, in 2019 Mazda Bekkali presented her second perfume project, Noème. This line became her creative laboratory, where she moved away from autobiographical motifs towards more abstract, almost philosophical ideas. Noème fragrances are journeys to the origins of natural elements and human sensations.

For example, the famous musky-powdery Divin Part explores the idea of the divine spark in humans, while the fresh and deep Abysse takes you to the depths of the sea. The sunny and spicy Naïca and the floral and chypre Atitlàn are no less popular. These compositions confirm Majda Bekkal's status as an inexhaustible source of perfume innovation.
