Atelier Cologne Citron d'Erable: A Fresh Take on Citrus Scents

Imagine a scent that, from the first breath, transports you to a sunny autumn forest where citrus notes intertwine with woody chords.

This is exactly what Citron d'Erable by Atelier Cologne, released in 2016, is like.

This unisex perfume, part of the Bon Voyage collection, offers not just a smell, but a whole journey for your senses.

Atelier Cologne, founded in 2009, has reimagined the classic cologne, making it more concentrated and long-lasting, which is reflected in each of their creations, including Citron d'Erable.

Positioning and Character of the Scent

As an eau de cologne, Citron d'Erable has the freshness and lightness characteristic of this concentration, yet surprises with its depth.

It is classified as a unisex scent, making it an ideal choice for those who value flexibility and modernity in perfumery.

Its trail is subtly perceptible, creating an intimate aura that doesn't impose itself but gently accompanies you throughout the day.

It's a great option for the office, dates, or walks in cool weather when you want something refreshing but not too heavy.

Families and Note Groups: What Makes the Scent Unique

Citron d'Erable belongs to the Citrus, Woody, and Aromatic families, creating a complex and multifaceted bouquet.

At its core are note groups: Citrus for freshness, Fruity for juiciness, Spicy for piquancy, Sweet for warmth, and Woody for stability.

This combination makes the scent dynamic: it starts with a bright citrus burst, transitions to a spicy-fruity heart, and finishes with a cozy woody base, perfectly suited for transitional seasons like autumn or spring.

The Philosophy of Atelier Cologne and the Influence of Citron d'Erable

The brand Atelier Cologne, founded by the spouses Christophe Servas, is renowned for its approach to creating scents that combine tradition with innovation.

Their philosophy lies in producing concentrated colognes that last longer on the skin, and Citron d'Erable is a perfect example of this.

In the Bon Voyage collection, to which it belongs, scents are inspired by travels, and Citron d'Erable reflects the idea of an autumn forest with maple leaves.

Although information about specific perfumers for this release is absent, the brand's style guarantees attention to detail and quality of raw materials, which enhances trust in the scent among enthusiasts of niche perfumery.

Similar Scents for Further Exploration

If Citron d'Erable has won your heart, it's worth paying attention to other scents that you might enjoy.

For example, Henri Bendel Jasmine & Tuberose offers floral freshness, Valeur Absolue Harmonie combines fruity and woody notes, and Emilio Pucci Vivara Black Edition presents a more intense version with similar accents.

Each of these perfumes can be the next step in your perfumery journey, expanding your palette of impressions.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Citron d'Erable is a true art of balance, where each note plays its role in creating a harmonious whole.

In the top notes, bergamot and mandarin dominate, providing instant freshness and energy, while maple syrup adds a sweet hint, reminiscent of autumn days.

The heart of the composition unfolds with black currant, imparting juicy fruitiness, while eucalyptus and Sichuan pepper contribute spicy and aromatic depth, making the fragrance more complex.

In the base, cedar, maple, and sequoia create a stable woody foundation that adds warmth and longevity, finishing the composition with a cozy aftertaste.

This journey from citrus brightness to woody stability makes the fragrance memorable and multifaceted.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

I once noticed sequoia in Demeter perfumes, and then I saw it as an ingredient in another fragrance, so I decided to try it in the store. Overall, the impression is pleasant: coniferous notes combine excellently with citrus. Unfortunately, I haven't tried maple syrup, so I can't say anything about it. But eucalyptus is clearly noticeable: such a fresh and cool accent, and pepper adds an interesting sharpness. What's especially pleasing is that the fragrance doesn't smell "flat" 🌟

The fragrance is simply AWFUL! The maple syrup here is so intrusive it's nauseating. It's somehow heavy, oppressive, not at all for autumn. On the skin, it unfolds unnaturally, like something sticky and unpleasant. I don't understand how anyone could like this!

This perfume is a real burst of energy! It combines sparkling citron and sweet maple syrup, and woody notes add depth. I don't see Canada in it; it's more like a pristine white beach and a relaxing seaside vacation. It smells cheerful and fresh, like a spring day, full of promises of summer and carefree moments 🌞

At first, I was completely delighted with this fragrance, thinking I was starting a real story with the brand. I could smell coniferous and citrus notes, which reminded me of Atlas Cedar, but with a more feminine touch. However, I soon started to notice a viscous maple syrup note appearing in the fragrance, and that's where my problems began. I've never gotten along with this ingredient, and consequently, my perception of Citron d`Erable changed. Now I don't wear it; fortunately, I didn't buy a full-sized bottle when I was initially impressed. The fragrance is certainly interesting, but unfortunately, I couldn't make friends with it

Sweet citrus with a slight alcoholic nuance, all infused with honey. The base reveals wood, specifically fresh-cut wood right on the surface. The fragrance is truly unusual and interesting, long-lasting, but it seems to whisper rather than shout 🤔

This perfume just explodes with emotions! Bright, sunny, it fills you with energy and joy. The fougère-woody composition with light citrus notes creates a feeling of freshness. The scent is so juicy, it feels like you're in nature, enjoying the coolness. An excellent choice for everyday use, it will definitely lift your spirits!

This fragrance really grabs attention! You can feel the freshness of coniferous notes, and citrus accents add brightness. A hint of eucalyptus is also noticeable, which is a pleasant surprise. Maple syrup clearly stands out, and its sweetness is evident. Although it's not entirely my style, it still smells very harmonious

The fragrance is truly delightful. It's filled with sweet citruses, and blackcurrant adds an interesting note. Spicy nuances combined with a coniferous-woody accent create a voluminous scent. This perfume is versatile and perfectly suitable for both women and men

The smell of autumn sun - it's just a nightmare. The citruses, which should be invigorating, are just oppressive here, and the sweet syrup on top is totally overkill. No harmony at all, just harshness and heaviness. I don't understand how anyone can wear this 😒

Oh, damn, my love! The fragrance unfolded in such an incredible way. The wood and that sweet maple syrup - it's just awesome! The citrus adds such a sharpness that it prevents all this sticky mess from lingering. A true golden autumn in a bottle, no less!
