Into the Wild: Bud Parfums Gamekeeper

If you are looking for a fragrance that resonates like a hymn to untouched nature, Bud Parfums Gamekeeper is the one for you.

Released in 2000, this cologne from the Australian niche brand Bud Parfums became a true embodiment of the brand’s philosophy: creating not merely perfumes, but fragrant portraits of wild Australia.

The composition was created by perfumer Howard Jarvis, who masterfully combined resinous, green, and citrus accents.

An Olfactory Portrait: A Chypre with Character

Gamekeeper belongs to the classic Chypre family, yet it features unexpected nuances.

At its heart lies a contrast between the softness of orange blossom and the tartness of petitgrain, while the base envelops you in the warmth of labdanum, oakmoss, and patchouli.

Palmarosa adds a fresh green touch, while musk lends sensual depth.

This is an olfactory adventure for confident men who appreciate longevity and projection—Gamekeeper’s is very strong, so be prepared for compliments.

How to Wear Gamekeeper

As an eau de cologne, this fragrance is ideal for warm weather, yet its rich base also makes a statement on cooler days.

It is made for making an impression, whether at a business meeting or on an evening stroll.

Perfume information

Description of the composition

The Gamekeeper pyramid is built on contrasts: sunny petitgrain and delicate orange blossom create a bright opening, followed by spicy-herbal palmarosa and astringent patchouli.

In the base, resinous labdanum, damp oakmoss, and sensual musk create a long-lasting, enveloping trail.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

This perfume is definitely worth checking out. The leaves in its composition come across quite sharp and direct, creating a stubborn vibe. It reminds me of a guy who persistently defends his interests. Though, I gotta admit, sometimes that can be annoying 😅 The moss seems to give these leaves a shine, and the petals along with honeyed floral notes add a touch of tenderness
