The world first encountered Adastra by Caron in 1936. By character, a feminine fragrance drawing from the green, chypre, and floral families. Perfumer Ernest Daltroff is the author behind this composition. The fragrance is presented as perfume extract.

Description of the composition

The composition of Adastra is built as a cohesive olfactory arc, where notes flow without rush and without gaps. The creative approach of Caron is recognizable in the way notes appear and fade. No excess details, only what works, and the structure feels complete all the way through. Perfume extract sets a balanced rhythm of unfolding.

From the first breath you sense fresh green opening notes: Bergamot, Galbanum and Green Chord. These 3 notes build pure greenery effect that gives the fragrance a clear opening statement.

In the middle phase you detect Clove, Jasmine, Rose and Tuberose carrying a opulent floral direction.

The accord architecture is driven by these accords: Balsamic, Citrus, Gourmet and Floral without random overlap. Background accords such as Musc, Wood and Amber add depth to the backdrop.

From the group perspective the structure relies on Citrus, Green, Floral and Whiteflower. The palette also extends to Animals, Balsamic, Earthy / Mossy and Wood. Within olfactory families the fragrance belongs to Chypre, Floral and Green.

Taken together Adastra holds a coherent structure — the first stage creates momentum, the central phase adds depth, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint. This is the type of composition best judged in wear.
