History and concept

Commodity is an American niche brand that has journeyed from crowdfunding to cult status. Founded in Los Angeles in 2013, it was revived thanks to the public's love.

Platinum Collection Tonka is a vivid example of the brand's philosophy: a play of contrasts and cozy luxury.

This unisex fragrance from the Oriental family was launched in 2017 and is part of the Platinum Collection.

It was created by perfumer Guillaume Flavigny and comes in an eau de parfum concentration with a noticeable sillage.

An olfactory journey

The fragrance opens with bittersweet, spicy notes of almond, cardamom, and wormwood.

At its heart, lotus and magnolia bloom, while a base of benzoin, Peru balsam, sandalwood, and tonka bean creates a gourmand, creamy-woody finish.

It is a story of contrasts: spicy greenery gives way to floral tenderness, before enveloping the skin in the warmth of balsams and the sweetness of tonka bean.

Character and wearability

With its noticeable sillage and versatile character, Tonka is ideal for evening outings and colder weather. It unfolds gradually on the skin, creating the feeling of a warm embrace.

This unisex fragrance smells equally luxurious on women's and men's skin, emphasizing individuality and a love of sweet yet never cloying compositions.

Similar fragrances

If you enjoy this sweet spiciness, consider Zara 004 Me & My Selfie and Eau Jeune Possesion.

They also play on the contrast between gourmand and woody notes, offering a similar mood.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.
