Identity and Release History

The fragrance Dior Sauvage Parfum, released in 2019, is a Perfume (Extract) concentration in the iconic Sauvage collection by Dior.

This perfume house, founded in 1947 by Christian Dior, embodies Parisian elegance and luxury, and Sauvage Parfum continues this tradition by offering a more intense and refined version of the original.

Online searches in English and Spanish confirm that the release quickly gained popularity among connoisseurs due to its deep and refined character, becoming a symbol of modern masculine strength and charisma.

Positioning and Wearability

Positioned as a male fragrance, Dior Sauvage Parfum is ideal for evening outings, special occasions, and cold seasons when a more persistent and rich scent is required.

Its middle trail ensures a noticeable but not intrusive presence, making it complimentary and recognizable in a crowd.

For optimal application, experts recommend 2-3 sprays on the skin in the wrist and neck area so that the fragrance unfolds gradually, or on clothing for a longer-lasting effect, although specific dosage data is not provided.

As alternatives, other concentrations can be considered, such as Dior Sauvage and Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum, which offer lighter options, or Novaya Zarya Chypre for lovers of classic chypre chords.

Authors and Influence

Behind the creation of this masterpiece is perfumer François Demachy, whose talent and attention to detail gave the fragrance unique depth and complexity.

His work at Dior has helped strengthen the brand's reputation as an innovator in the world of men's perfumery, combining traditional methods with modern trends.

Sauvage Parfum, as part of the Sauvage collection, has significantly influenced the perception of the line, bringing a more luxurious and refined element, reflecting the House's evolution towards exclusive offerings.

This is confirmed by reviews on Spanish and Russian resources, where the fragrance is often praised for its masterful combination of notes and longevity.

Families and Note Groups

The fragrance belongs to the Oriental and Woody families, emphasizing its warm, sensual, and simultaneously structured character.

Its composition is dominated by note groups: Citrus for a fresh start, Spicy for a piquant heart, and Woody for a solid base, creating a multifaceted profile that develops on the skin over time.

This mix makes the fragrance versatile for different moods and circumstances, from romantic dates to business meetings, highlighting its adaptability and charm.

At the heart of the composition, soothing lavender, warm nutmeg, creamy sandalwood, and spicy Sichuan pepper unfold, adding depth and complexity.

The base notes, including synthetic ambroxan, smoky incense, earthy patchouli, recurring sandalwood, sweet tonka beans, delicate vanilla, and sturdy Virginia cedar, provide longevity and a sensual finish that leaves an unforgettable impression on the skin.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Overall, the fragrance isn't bad, but I can't say it impressed me. You can wear it, but I don't see anything special about it. Maybe I'll use it in the future, but it's quite unremarkable. Most likely, it's suitable for autumn and winter, and for everyday life, it's perfectly fine!! But for an evening, I want something brighter and more memorable

This Sauvage, honestly, smells much worse than the first one. There's not enough sweetness, and instead, there's some harshness. Peppery notes clearly come through, and I definitely won't confuse them. It seems they just forgot to mention it in the pyramid 😒

Why are notes like pepper, lavender, nutmeg, and ambroxan listed in the pyramid? I couldn't find such information anywhere. On Fragrantica and Dior's website, it's only mandarin, sandalwood, vanilla, bergamot, and tonka beans. Can pepper and lavender be felt in the fragrance

I can't say this fragrance is bad. It's quite recognizable, but at the same time a bit overused. If you forget about its name and advertising, just immersing yourself in its notes. Oh, it's really something! Warm, chic, and with excellent sillage!!! It seems to belong to the category of expensive and very pleasant for others

It seems this fragrance should go on sale in Russia on September 1st. I managed to try a sample, and, honestly, I expected more. The packaging says "extreme intensity and untamed charm," but it didn't seem as "extreme" to me as its 2018 predecessor. At first, it's really intense, but, fortunately, it soon becomes a bit calmer. It gained more charm, and I noticed a leather note with sandalwood - that's definitely a plus. In the base, it's pleasant, but the overall impression remains the same: for me, it's too loud, even though it got a bit quieter. I wouldn't want to smell this perfume on my man
