Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Drakkar Noir is a true olfactory journey: in the top notes, you are greeted by fresh citrus chords, such as bergamot and lemon, blended with aromatic notes of mint and rosemary.

The heart of the composition unfolds with spicy and green notes, including cinnamon and angelica, adding warmth and complexity.

In the base, the fragrance gains masculinity thanks to woody and leather chords, such as cedar, leather chord and vetiver, which ensures a long-lasting and memorable trail.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

A scent that became a symbol of an entire era. Everyone knows it, and everyone has their own opinion on it: some respect it, some can't stand it. But it definitely evokes emotions. It's that very smell that reminds you of a time when men strived to be real, not just part of a glamorous world. The perfumery composition here is truly impressive - it's complex and harmonious, capable of awakening strength and confidence in a person. Drakkar Noir brings together the best masculine notes: pine needles, moss, juniper berries, and light citrus accents. And, of course, its longevity and sillage are what make it special. Yes, it's a masterpiece, but don't forget that many modern products only try to imitate it. If you want to experience true retro, Drakkar Noir is what you need )

I'm not familiar with the modern version of this fragrance. But the vintage version - that's something else! The opening, of course, leaves much to be desired, but the middle and especially the drydown - that's a real find! The first notes resemble the scent of toothpaste, but then they transition into an incredibly delicate, slightly sweet and spicy bouquet that is simply captivating

The perfume really attracts attention, looks quite stylish. You can tell it's old school. Essentially, it's clearly a masculine fragrance, with woody notes and a light coniferous accent, but not too intrusive. I might even buy a full-size bottle if it weren't for its "quiet" nature. It's almost imperceptible on the skin, with no sillage at all. Sometimes this can be good, but I would like it to be more prominent. Although, of course, this is just my opinion on how it behaves on my skin

A golden classic that shocked in the late 80s and early 90s, the new version has retained its audacity. Honestly, I think it even surpasses Aqua Di Gio Profumo. It's somehow strange, but there's something attractive and at the same time incomprehensible about it. I can't decide if I like it or not, but it certainly doesn't leave you indifferent!

I bought a violet of the fragrance, just out of curiosity, not even a decant. Doubts plagued me whether I would wear it. And, as it turned out, not in vain. Although I prefer unisex and sometimes men's fragrances, this one is clearly masculine. A bright, rich fougère, with lots of greenery, strong spices, woody notes, and roughness. You can even feel something chypre-like, with a slight retro touch. This scent is clearly for those who appreciate the old school

Guy Laroche's Drakkar Noir is truly an iconic fragrance that has left its mark on the world of perfumery. Over the years of its existence, many fakes and copies have appeared, which, of course, somewhat obscured its uniqueness. But if you appreciate classic fragrances, then this option is definitely worth trying. It is still capable of evoking nostalgia and providing pleasant sensations 🌸
