Fragrance information:

Calypso Lancôme, brought to life in 2003, is classified as a feminine fragrance, falling within the fruit and floral families. It was created by perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud. The fragrance is presented as eau de toilette.

The sillage is delicate — an intimate cloud that stays close to the skin. In terms of longevity, it sits at moderate — long enough to make a real impression. Produced in France, where perfumery has long been elevated to an art form. Calypso Lancôme — the choice of those who appreciate depth and character in every detail.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Calypso is built as a living composition, where notes flow without rush and without gaps. The style of Lancôme is recognizable in details that define the fragrance identity. Nothing here feels random, and the structure feels complete all the way through. Eau de toilette sets the right density and pace of development.

The accord architecture is shaped by these accords: Citrus, Floral, Fruit and Wood with each one in a clear role. Background accords such as Spicy expand the olfactory volume in the background. The profile is feminine, which makes the scent profile easier to read. For persistence Middle suggests confident staying power.

In the top tier you sense sweet-fresh fruity opening notes: Bergamot, Black Pepper, Pear and Plum.

When the opening settles you meet Freesia, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley and Rose keeping a harmonious floral direction.

From the group perspective the profile is anchored in Citrus, Spicy, Fruit and Floral. The framework further includes Whiteflower, Wood and Gourmet.

Taken together Calypso holds a coherent structure — the opening sets direction, the heart develops the core line, while the drydown anchors the memory. This is the type of composition best experienced in wear.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

Unfortunately, this fragrance didn't unfold on me at all. It smells just like soap, and quite strongly. I often notice this reaction when freesia, lily of the valley, and jasmine are present in a perfume 😕

What cool makeup the girl in the promo photo has, it goes perfectly with the bottle's color! 😊 I was also looking for a fragrance with a plum note recently, and here it is, finally found! The plum here is just incredible, so juicy and natural. The prices at Rendezvous aren't the lowest, of course, but what can you do, it's worth it! 🎉

First you feel a ripe yellow plum, it's practically oozing juice. Then fresh marine accents appear, as if it's pear with bergamot. The fragrance sparkles, it seems created for spring and early summer, but at the beginning, it's a bit sharp due to pepper. The longevity isn't the most outstanding, but among modern eaux de toilette, it certainly holds its own as a full-fledged perfume 🤔

Calypso by Lancôme is just a terrible plum fragrance that annoys me. No originality, just a common fruity-floral scent with some pepperiness, but it's not sweet, just nasty. Totally unsuitable for summer, especially for evenings when you want something decent 😒
