Perfume information

Description of the composition

The composition of Ylang is shaped as a continuous scent journey, where notes flow with precision and warmth. The style of Roger & Gallet comes through in the pacing of the notes and the overall aesthetic. Nothing here feels random, and the structure feels complete all the way through. Fragrant mist supports the depth and body this composition needs.

As soon as the fragrance opens you detect invigorating sunny top notes: Bergamot, Mandarin and Orange. These 3 notes build a burst of citrus freshness that gives the fragrance a clear opening statement.

In the heart you detect Orange blossom, Tiare and ylang-ylang carrying a creamy tuberose direction.

The accord profile is shaped by these accords: Citrus, Floral, Musc and Wood with each one in a clear role. Background accords such as Spicy add depth to the backdrop.

At olfactory-group level the profile is anchored in Whiteflower, Citrus, Wood and Gourmet. It also reaches into Musk and Floral. Within olfactory families the composition sits in Floral.

In summary Ylang reads as a cohesive composition — the opening sets direction, the middle layer carries the identity, while the drydown anchors the memory. This is the type of composition best judged in wear.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Very conspicuous

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

Ylang-ylang seems to be the center of everything. Everything seems to revolve around it. The scent is sweet, even warm, as if tangerines have been heated to the point of becoming almost transparent, amber-like. It reminds me of the fruits from Hermès' Mandarin and Amber fragrance. Overall, I liked it, but only if applied very sparingly
