Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Strictly Cologne is shaped as a cohesive olfactory arc, where layers reveal themselves without rush and without gaps. The signature of Van Gils is recognizable in the way notes appear and fade. Nothing here feels random, and the structure feels complete all the way through. Eau de toilette sets the right density and pace of development.

The profile is masculine, which makes the scent profile easier to read.

In the first seconds you detect radiant lemon-bergamot first notes: Bergamot, Cardamom, Juniper and Lemon.

When the opening settles you detect Absinthe, Geranium, Violet and Wormwood holding a opulent floral direction. In the base the composition is fixed through Ambergris, Cedar, Oak moss, Rosewood and Suede, reinforcing a warm vetiver trail.

At olfactory-group level the structure relies on Citrus, Spicy, Wood and Drinks. The palette also extends to Floral, Green, Ambery and Earthy / Mossy. At family level the fragrance belongs to Fern and Wood.

Taken together Strictly Cologne sounds complete from start to finish — the start forms character, the middle layer carries the identity, while the drydown anchors the memory. These are the scent structures best judged in wear.
