Identity and Release History

Carner Barcelona Cuirs is an Eau de Parfum, released in 2011 by the niche Spanish house Carner Barcelona.

The brand, founded in 2010, draws inspiration from the vibrant character of Barcelona, and Cuirs perfectly reflects this philosophy through bold leather accords.

The fragrance is part of the Woody Collection, emphasizing its woody foundation, and since its release, it has gained recognition among niche perfume enthusiasts.

Fragrance Development

Cuirs begins its journey with a spicy explosion of saffron and cumin, creating an intriguing start.

In the heart of the composition, woody and floral notes unfold, such as violet, guaiac wood, cedar, patchouli, and sandalwood, adding depth and softness.

The base of the fragrance is a rich cocktail of ambergris, amyris, labdanum, leather accord, nagarmotha, oud, tonka bean, and musk, which leaves a lasting and mysterious trail.

Positioning and Wearability

As a unisex fragrance, Cuirs is suitable for both men and women who appreciate bold and complex compositions.

Its moderate trail makes it ideal for evening events or cool days when you want to add a note of mystery.

The recommended dosage is 1 to 2 sprays on the skin and 1 to 2 on clothing, to enjoy its full development without overdoing it.

The Eau de Parfum concentration ensures good longevity, allowing the fragrance to accompany you for several hours.

Authors and Influence

Cuirs was created by the talented perfumers Sara Carner and Sonia Constant, whose experience gave the fragrance a unique character.

Their collaboration led to the birth of a leather masterpiece, which strengthens Carner Barcelona's reputation as a house capable of combining tradition with innovation.

If you enjoyed Cuirs, you might want to explore similar fragrances, such as Nasomatto Black Afgano, Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero, and Orto Parisi Terroni, which also explore dark and mysterious themes.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Cuirs begins with a spicy duo of saffron and cumin, which immediately draws attention.

The heart of the fragrance is dominated by woody notes of cedar, guaiac wood, patchouli, and sandalwood, complemented by a tender violet, creating a balanced and warm middle.

The base consists of a complex mix of amber, amyris, labdanum, a leather accord, nagarmotha, oud, tonka beans, and musk, ensuring a deep and long-lasting finish.

This combination makes Cuirs a multifaceted fragrance, where each note plays its role in creating a holistic leather impression, characteristic of the Leather family.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

The scent isn't all that similar to Laylati; it's closer to Black Afgano. Sospiro, in my opinion, is richer and more intense, and frankly, just better. Afgano smells like something dirty, more like a savage on a motorcycle than an elegant person at the theater. Earthy notes and smoke dominate it, and a leather jacket smelling of hashish completely rejects expensive suits. Cuirs, on the other hand, is somewhere in the middle of these two scents. It's exactly the kind of fragrance you can wear to the theater or to a Spanish party in jeans, with tobacco and alcohol. The scent is versatile, not too narrowly focused, so it's easier to wear. It's fresh, thanks to the 'mineral' violet, which at the start creates a feeling of damp lime. By the way, I adore this note, like in Grey Flannel. But the number of components raises questions - why so many? Sospiro and Nasomatto create scents with fewer ingredients and no less impressive results, and Laylati has more, but the outcome isn't always better. Nevertheless, the scent is successful; you can wear it everywhere - in the office, it won't suffocate those around you, and in the evening, it will be just right. As for Angelic Boadicea the Victorious, I can't say anything, as I don't take this brand seriously - too many scents, and no individuality there. The bottles are beautiful, of course. Cuirs will suit those for whom Black Afgano seems too individual, and Laylati too pretentious. In the end, Sonia Constant created a beautiful fragrance. It's no longer as original and charismatic, but still bright and memorable. This is what a true versatile everyday perfume is, not what usually sits on store shelves 🌟

The fragrance, in my opinion, is definitely not for men and certainly not unisex. I can't imagine a woman daring to wear it. I bought a mini-version and, as you might have guessed, I didn't wear it. I'll try using it in the autumn, maybe it will unfold differently. I like the saffron and leather in it

From the very beginning, when I took the first sniff, it seemed to me that it resembled Afgano, but Cuirs is much lighter and more comfortable to wear. Its longevity is excellent, the fragrance doesn't cause discomfort and leaves a pleasant sillage

This version of Afgano is indeed softer and suitable for everyday use. If you add a little bit of cigarette to it, it turns out simply magnificent!!! The longevity is pleasing, about 5-6 hours, and the sillage isn't too intrusive

The leather is sensitive, and the iris scent is simply amazing. It's nice that it's so multifaceted. You want to inhale it endlessly. Although it's unisex, it sounds especially chic on a man

The fragrance is indeed interesting, but I wouldn't say it's for everyone. If you're not used to such things, you might be shocked 😅 I, for one, am thrilled with it; it develops absolutely wonderfully on me. But after a couple of hours, I no longer smell it, while those around me seem to catch it. It's like it fades into the background but still stays with you. I don't know if I like this or not, but it definitely leaves a mark 🌌

I bought Cuirs because I constantly longed for Black Afgano. I know they're similar, I've tested both fragrances on myself many times, so I don't regret the purchase! These scents are like from the same family… although Black Afgano is so charismatic and brutal, while Cuirs is more refined and aristocratic. There's no point arguing that such things happen)) This isn't just about fragrances, but also about people: outwardly similar, but completely different in character.

Cuirs smells more subtly, and in my opinion, it will suit ladies better than Black Afgano, although I'll buy that one too. In Cuirs, the main note is oud, as well as sweetish sandalwood notes that are very clearly audible. Patchouli is also present, but it's so modest, carefully measured. And light floral notes somewhere in the background. Overall, the perfume is simply magical, unusual, and enchanting, I'm madly in love with it))) So I recommend everyone to try it, I'm sure you'll get along great with it)!)))

What an amazing fragrance! It's so warm and gentle, with a slight sweetness, simply gorgeous. I'd say it's perfect for autumn and winter, although I just bought it recently without even thinking, which is extremely rare for me. When I first applied it, I immediately felt familiar notes that made me ponder. In the end, I remembered that it reminds me of Laura Biagiotti - Emotion, with woody accents, leather, and resin. All in all, the fragrance is simply a bomb!

Leather fragrances are not really my thing. I can appreciate them as a work of art, but wearing them myself. probably won't happen. I simply can't stand Black Afgano. If we talk about Cuirs, it's certainly lighter and neater compared to other 'leathers,' but for me, feminine leather is still Bottega Veneta. And this fragrance is somewhere in between, as if oscillating between two worlds 🌟

At the start, saffron and cumin sound quite cold, with tart green notes. Incense is also felt, but without the characteristic smoke. Violet against woody accents looks really attractive, and guaiac hardly shows itself. The base becomes warmer, with a light sweetness and fresh oud appearing. I didn't notice any leather notes, although sometimes I thought I smelled tar 😅 This lingering sour-green opening doesn't at all encourage purchase

This fragrance is much gentler and airier than Black Afgano. It also features woody notes with a light smoke, as well as fresh greens and oud with musk 🌿

A fragrance that just presses on my brain, I can't stand it. It's too sharp, with some intrusive spiciness that gives no peace. Leather and wood combined with patchouli create a feeling of heaviness, as if you're carrying a burden. I don't understand how one can wear this, it's simply disgusting 😒

I expected something rougher, but I got some kind of trendy jacket. Yes, the perfume isn't bad, but it's not what I need. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I should even get it

Cuirs and Black Afgano just don't last on my skin. Honestly, I'm annoyed and looking for something else. I sprayed half a sample of Cuirs on my wrist, and an hour later there was no trace of it left. Horrible! On my other wrist, I have 8 Ceylon by Odin, and I just can't get enough of it. It's incredible! I've been sniffing my hand for four hours now, I can't stop enjoying it. But Cuirs. Well, what can I say? It's like a softer version of Afgano, but not as interesting. It sounds like an obvious clone. For some, it might be suitable price-wise, but my skin just doesn't take to it. Just like Afgano. I'll continue my search. Disappointed for now. )

This fragrance simply captivated me, although I don't wear it often. I can feel saffron, sandalwood, amber, and tonka beans in it, but I miss the leather note. It reminds me of something like gloves, but not quite. If you compare it to Gucci Absolute, where the leather sounds pure and without frills, here everything is different. This perfume is feminine, cozy, and soft, as if enveloping you. It lasts long on the skin, leaving a trail that attracts glances and draws compliments. It's easy to recognize on others, sounds very expensive and stylish
