Legendary Heritage of Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau

In 2012, the legendary perfume house Guerlain introduced the fragrance Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau, which became a fresh interpretation in the famous Shalimar collection.

This release, available from 2012 to 2015, embodies the sophistication and innovations characteristic of the brand since 1828.

Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau is part of the Shalimar collection, linking it to the rich history of oriental and chypre fragrances from the house of Guerlain.

As a chypre, floral, and oriental fragrance, it offers a modern take on classics, perfectly suited for perfume enthusiasts.

Olfactory Symphony and Development

The fragrance Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau plays with a multifaceted palette of notes, creating an airy and sensual composition.

At the start, you'll experience a fresh citrus burst, which gradually transitions into a delicate floral heart, and then into a warm gourmand base.

This journey from brightness to depth makes it versatile for different moods.

On the skin, the fragrance develops smoothly: the initial citrus freshness quickly gives way to floral tenderness, and the vanilla-spicy base adds longevity and comfort.

Such balance allows it to adapt to individual skin chemistry, creating a unique trail.

Positioning and Wearability

Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau is a feminine fragrance in the concentration of eau de toilette, making it ideal for daily use.

With a medium trail, it leaves a noticeable but unobtrusive trace, suitable for the office, dates, or walks in warm seasons.

If you liked this fragrance, consider similar options: Novaya Zarya Krasnaya Moskva, Faberlic Faberlic by Valentin Yudashkin Gold, and Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial.

Each offers its own accents in the oriental-floral palette.

Authorship and Influence of Thierry Wasser

The creator of this fragrance is the talented perfumer Thierry Wasser, who skillfully blends Guerlain traditions with modern trends.

His work on Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau demonstrates the ability to revitalize classic motifs, adding lightness and relevance.

This release solidified Guerlain's reputation as an innovator in the perfume world, showing how the brand can adapt its iconic collections for a new audience.

Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau remains a desired choice for those seeking an elegant and memorable fragrance with history.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. At first, I thought it would be too cloyingly sweet. But I tried it by chance and was pleasantly surprised. The fragrance is fresh, floral, with a light sweetness and incredible tenderness 🌸

The fragrance is indeed interesting, a bit more floral than my favorite Initial L'Eau Si Sensuelle. The longevity is excellent, the sillage is noticeable in the first few hours, and then it becomes closer to the skin. There are often debates about whether this is a Shalimar or not. Sometimes you can catch something familiar, but, in my opinion, it depends on the weather - in cold weather, it really resembles Shalimar. But, in the end, that's not so important. The main thing is that it's a high-quality and stunning fragrance. The top notes delight with citrus with a slight bitterness, and the floral bouquet sounds harmonious. And all of this is on a Guerlain base with their characteristic vanilla

The fragrance turned out to be quite light, but unfortunately, it didn't leave a deep impression. It smells pleasant, but it feels like something important is missing. The powdery notes are nice, but the longevity could be better. Overall, the feeling of lightness doesn't save it from the melancholy that remains after use

The perfume is completely unimpressive. The base clearly reminds me of Shalimar, but that doesn't save the situation. The floral and vanilla notes seem too intrusive. Longevity, of course, is there, but it stays so close to the skin that you barely notice it. In winter and early spring, it brings no pleasure at all, only irritation. In short, I don't recommend it

Guerlain really evokes mixed feelings. On the one hand, it seems noble and pure, but at the same time, there's some mystery to it. Powder, slightly damp, surrounded by a huge bouquet of flowers. The scent unfolds slowly, and with each moment, it becomes lighter and more transparent. As if an invisible veil hovers around me. In the cold, it sounds a bit detached, as if hiding, but in the warmth, it begins to open up and leaves a sillage. I think in the heat, it will sound simply amazing. The longevity of the scent is impressive, and the bottle is a separate topic, it's simply chic

This Shalimar isn't the best choice for an introduction. It has so many complexities that an ordinary person can't handle them. The fragrance only causes dissatisfaction: sweetness with a sharp bitterness of citrus peels, and that's not enjoyable. No tenderness, just heaviness and oppression. A combination that repels rather than delights 😒

In the new version, L'Eau fragrance retained its multifaceted nature, but without any hints of retro. It's bright, yet at the same time very delicate and even a little magical. This scent perfectly conveys a spring mood, without turning into a banal freshie or a sweet compote. In short, it's a true aristocrat!!!

The fragrance is indeed very soft and feminine. Vanilla, as we're used to, is barely noticeable; it only slightly lingers on the skin. The main notes are floral accents, citrus nuances, sweet tonka beans, and a bit of bitterness from green stems. I wore it in spring, and in cool weather with a light breeze, it unfolds simply wonderfully!! I haven't tried it in other seasons, as my decant has already run out

If this is "Shalimar", then I'm ready to wear it. I understand it can't compare to the classic, and there's no point putting this EDT next to the original. Here there are such fresh citruses, floral coolness: first spring-like, and then brighter notes like jasmine and rose join in. I wouldn't even mind getting a decant or a miniature of this beauty. The vanilla isn't intrusive 🌼

PS: The poster looks quite strange 🙂 But the fragrance rather reminds me of EDP. Not every perfume can boast such longevity and vibrancy. It's delicious, delicate, and pulsating. There's even something passionate about it, in a feminine way, very softly. Flowers, flowers, and more flowers!

The longevity is simply excellent! But on the skin, unfortunately, it fades quickly, which isn't great(( However, it lasts wonderfully on clothes. When I tested it in the store, they sprayed it on my scarf, and it smelled for a whole week. The fragrance is truly high-quality, warm, and beautiful. Although it's a bit heavy for me, it still smells expensive 💖

I bought this perfume, quickly sprayed myself from head to toe, and went to visit. I feel like this scent is suffocating me, and it seems everyone around is suffering too. You don't need much, but for an eau de toilette, it's surprisingly long-lasting. It leaves a sillage, and each note lasts a long time. In frosty weather, it feels oriental, but as it gets warmer, some light florals open up, leaving a rosy trail. The design, of course, isn't bad: the blue box and cap hint at cold, and the pink tassel suggests warmth. The bottle looks chic. But I hear it on so many people, and that doesn't make me happy at all, even though the scent is indeed recognizable 😒

In the cold, this fragrance surprises! Warm, sweetish, sparkles, but after an hour I don't smell it anymore. I wonder, is it still on me? People say the scent is there. A perfume for those over 30 - the youth under 20 expect an immediate pleasant smell and have no patience. At first sharp and chemical, but on skin it opens up in 10 minutes, not on clothes. An oriental scent, it plays with the skin, and if it chooses you, nobody will be indifferent

I used this perfume all summer, and honestly, Guerlain Shalimar Initial L'Eau just got on my nerves. Yes, there's something to it, but I could drench myself in it and it still wouldn't evoke any delight. The citrus at the beginning is certainly noticeable, but it quickly disappears, leaving some indistinct vanilla with powder and bitterness. Maybe it develops better in winter, but in summer, it doesn't last on me at all. In short, I don't recommend it

This fragrance is, of course, warm and cozy, but at first it's simply suffocating and too sweet 😤 After a while, when it calms down a bit, interesting oriental notes appear, but that doesn't save the situation. For autumn or winter, it might work, but only as an evening option. Overall, I didn't really get into it, even though oriental fragrances aren't my taste 😒
