Identity and Release History

Lancôme L'Autre Oud, released in 2012, is a unisex fragrance from the legendary French house Lancôme, presented in the concentration of eau de parfum.

The name, meaning "The Other Oud", reflects an innovative approach to the classic oriental note, offering a fresh perspective on traditions.

Founded in 1935 by Armand Petitjean, a student of the great François Coty, Lancôme embodies French elegance and the pursuit of beauty, and L'Autre Oud continues this philosophy, combining luxury with modern boldness.

Fragrance Pyramid

This fragrance belongs to the Oriental and Woody families, combining rich notes from the aromatic, earthy / mossy, floral, spicy, and woody groups.

The composition smoothly unfolds from a spicy opening to a deep, sensual base, creating a multifaceted experience.

Positioning and Wearability

As a unisex fragrance, L'Autre Oud is suitable for both men and women seeking a refined and mysterious perfume for special moments.

Its low trail makes it ideal for intimate encounters or evening outings, where subtle nuances are important.

Thanks to warm notes such as oud and myrrh, the fragrance is particularly good in the autumn-winter season.

For optimal effect, apply 1 to 2 sprays on the skin and 2 to 3 on clothing so that it persistently accompanies you throughout the day without overwhelming others.

Author and Influence

Behind the creation of L'Autre Oud is the talented perfumer Christophe Raynaud, who skillfully combined traditional oriental chords with a modern interpretation, adding depth and complexity.

This fragrance demonstrates how Lancôme experiments with niche directions while remaining true to its DNA of luxury and sophistication, strengthening the brand's reputation as an innovator in perfumery.

Perfume information

Description of the composition

The pyramid of Lancôme L'Autre Oud begins with top notes: clary sage, labdanum, nagarmota, and saffron, creating a spicy-aromatic opening that immediately captures attention.

At the heart of the fragrance, oud and rose dominate, forming a sensual and rich duo where woody depth meets delicate floral elegance.

The base consists of deep woody and balsamic notes: amyris, guaiac wood, gurjun balsam, myrrh, oakmoss, oud, patchouli, and vetiver, which ensure long-lasting sillage and a warm, enveloping finish.

This complex composition smoothly evolves on the skin, revealing new facets with each hour, from spicy sparks to earthy depth.

The combination of these notes makes L'Autre Oud a unique representative of oriental-woody fragrances that will captivate connoisseurs of refined and multidimensional perfumes.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

3
Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

The fragrance is like oriental magic in a bottle. It's rich, bright, and captivating. It smells expensive and multi-layered, simply mesmerizing

How ironic. To call an ordinary oud fragrance «Another Oud» is just a mockery. «Yet Another Oud» or «One More Oud» would have been much more fitting, as the market is already flooded with such scents. Christophe Raynaud is, of course, a «great» perfumer, but that doesn't make his creation unique. Saffron, rose, and oud - that's all we have. How many times has this been used already? Countless. Manufacturers, as always, try to convince us of the uniqueness of their product, but it won't work. Perfume fanatics know more than many creative directors, who, by the way, often have no idea about perfumery.

«Another Oud» from Maison Lancôme is just one more fragrance for the collection, and for that, thanks. The core accord here is assembled with a generous dose of nagarmotha, which gives it a certain dryness and desolation. Saffron adds its medicinal facet, and leather gets lost among the woody notes. The spicy note, though present, isn't impressive. The rose here is just to fill the gaps; it's not sweet or berry-like, but simply fresh and delicate.

The quality of assembly is, of course, high, but the raw materials don't stand out as anything special. For this delicate work, one can forgive the derivativeness and even the vulgarity of the concept, but it doesn't make the fragrance better

In my opinion, this fragrance is clearly more for men. It lacks the sophistication and elegance I expected. Yes, it's oriental, but without any magic. Honestly, the bottle looks much more appealing than what's inside. We didn't click, I exchanged it and don't regret it

The bottle and contents are simply super! The scent is rich, beautiful, and powerful. It might seem sharp at first, but if you give it some time, it truly unfolds. Apply it again - and it's true love. The oud sounds very sophisticated, as if with French charm. People around don't hold back on compliments. A great choice!

Saffron, labdanum, sage, violet, and iris… roses… The result is a soft, slightly woody and bitterish fragrance. It feels familiar, doesn't overwhelm me. Rather, it's fresh and tart, even embraces you with its scent 🌟

I must be missing something, but based on my feelings, this perfume strongly reminds me of Amouage's Opus 5. You could say it largely replicates Amouage's style, but it's also incredibly beautiful! The oriental softness and elegance are simply striking! I couldn't figure out which of these fragrances is more long-lasting. Honestly, though, it's not that important - the differences are likely minor
