Identity and Birth of a Legend

Welcome to the captivating world of Mugler, where fantasy becomes reality, and discover A*Men Pure Coffee, an eau de toilette that debuted in 2008.

This fragrance is part of the iconic A*Men collection, known for its bold and innovative approach to men's perfumery.

Born from the boundless imagination of Manfred Thierry Mugler, the Mugler brand has been challenging conventions since 1992, and A*Men Pure Coffee is a shining example, combining audacity and refinement.

Released in an era when coffee notes were just beginning to gain popularity in perfumery, this fragrance quickly became a favorite among enthusiasts of unique compositions.

It reflects the spirit of the times, offering a modern interpretation of oriental accords, and remains in demand today, years after its debut.

Aromatic Symphony: Character and Notes

A*Men Pure Coffee belongs to the Oriental family, giving it a warm, sensual, and mysterious character.

This fragrance is built on a bold blend of notes, dominated by woody and gourmand accents, creating a unique profile that gradually unfolds on the skin.

Unlike traditional pyramids, here the notes intertwine, forming a harmonious ensemble, perfect for those seeking something special in men's perfumery.

The opening begins with an intriguing start, perhaps with a light spiciness or freshness, quickly transitioning to the heart, where coffee and woody elements create a dense, enveloping atmosphere.

In the dry-down, musk and patchouli add longevity and a soft trail, making the fragrance memorable for many hours.

Positioning and Wearability

Positioned as a men's fragrance, A*Men Pure Coffee in the concentration of eau de toilette offers moderate longevity and a barely perceptible trail, making it ideal for daily use or office wear.

It can be applied to the skin based on personal preference, typically 2-3 sprays are enough to achieve the desired effect.

On clothing, the fragrance may last longer, but due to its light trail, it won't be overpowering.

If you're looking for similar fragrances, consider By Kilian Intoxicated, which also plays with coffee notes, Comme des Garçons Parfums Blackpepper for spicy accent lovers, or Mugler B*Men as an alternative in the same Mugler universe.

Unfortunately, other concentrations of this fragrance, such as EDP or Extrait, were not released, making this eau de toilette a unique offering.

Creators and Legacy

Behind the creation of A*Men Pure Coffee are two outstanding perfumers: Jacques Huclier and Thierry Mugler.

Their collaboration brought expertise and a creative vision, characteristic of the Mugler house.

Jacques Huclier is known for his innovative compositions, and Thierry Mugler, as the brand's founder, ensured the fragrance aligns with Mugler's DNA—boldness, fantasy, and challenging traditions.

This release strengthened Mugler's position in the world of men's perfumery, showing that the brand can successfully experiment with unusual notes like coffee and create fragrances that become cult classics.

A*Men Pure Coffee continues to inspire new fans and remains a testament to Mugler's legacy.

Description of the composition

The composition of A*Men Pure Coffee is a harmonious blend of five key notes that together create a unique aromatic experience.

Cedar adds woody freshness and stability, while coffee brings a deep, gourmand accent, reminiscent of a cup of espresso.

Patchouli and vetiver provide earthy and spicy shades, enriching the composition, while musk completes it with a soft, sensual base.

These notes intertwine without clear separation into levels, forming a holistic and memorable scent that is perfectly suited for connoisseurs of oriental and woody perfumes.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

I didn't notice any sweetness in this fragrance at all, which, in my opinion, is quite strange for Mugler. Usually, his men's perfumes are more versatile, and some of them, I think, even suit women better. But Coffee - that's a different story. It's truly impressive. A bright and stylish coffee scent, complemented by woody notes. So masculine and energetic that it can be worn both on vacation and at work ☕

I have this coffee pot too. Honestly, I wish there was more coffee, it's too patchouli-heavy. The coffee scent disappears after just a couple of hours. By the way, its star is opaque, it's the only one like that in the whole line

The fragrance is actually not bad. It's clearly about coffee, with a light spicy note. Woody accents are felt in the drydown. Unlike classic options, there's no intrusive sweetness or excessive gourmandise here

Great scent for a couple! My husband and I wore it when we were younger. Everyone thought we had different perfumes - on me it was sweet, on him cedar and patchouli. I want to try it again, but can't find it at a reasonable price

The coffee smell mixed with spices evokes strange feelings. The longevity of the fragrance is impressive, but it's definitely more suited for winter evenings. Overall, there's a sense of harmony, but something in this combination leaves a bitter aftertaste 😔

From the very beginning, coffee is felt; it's not loud, but clearly in the foreground. Spices and woody notes begin to interact with it, creating an interesting cocktail. There's something sweet, dessert-like, but not too intrusive. Closer to the end, sweetness appears, but it's not cloying, rather quite appropriate. The fragrance is truly unusual and not for everyday use. It's pleasing that it's natural. Thick and warm. I like it. On myself, I wouldn't say that it's purely a feminine fragrance. Perhaps unisex, but not 100%. Overall, quite good! 😌
