The name of the fragrance is truly intriguing: the word "impertinent" translates to "bold" or "insolent," and that immediately brings to mind the leather used for saddles and boots. But in reality, this leather isn't rough at all! If we're talking about boldness, it's more evident in how the fragrance tries to mask the smell of a extinguished cigarette - tobacco is clearly audible here. And star anise gives it a special sharpness, making the composition very refined. You can happily wear such a fragrance every day, it's suitable for both celebrations and everyday life 🎉

This fragrance from the Les Exceptions collection raised many questions for me. While the other scents in the collection don't copy usual clichés, they still can't compare to Le Labo, where a "rose" fragrance has more vetiver than vetiver itself. But Cuir Impertinent is the only fragrance where I never found the promised leather in the name. It's simply not there. Neither rough, nor soft, nor even a hint of it.

The entire fragrance is built on the contrast between bright, sweet anise and a woody-smoky note, which connect through a fruity accord reminiscent of dark cherry and bitter almond. The cherry in Cuir Impertinent cannot be compared to Lost Cherry by Tom Ford, nor to Close Up by Olfactive Studio. It is rather part of a tobacco accord, the base of which is coumarin. Ultimately, the vertical structure of the fragrance consists of star anise, cherry, and tobacco.

Thin streams of woody smoke, possibly with clove, only intensify this sensation. I also noticed a strange, lifeless trace of dried rose with a wine-tobacco smell, perhaps it's damascone, which participates in forming the fruity accord. Something floral in Cuir Impertinent relieves the tension between the main elements. Star anise remains until the very end. In the finale, only it and coumarin remain, blended with woody musk to homogeneity.

I don't understand why Mugler called this fragrance "Impertinent Leather." It's not a tobacco or woody composition; it can barely be called fruity. The main characteristic is smoky-spicy, but star anise is not the most popular spice to easily imagine the character of the composition. In any case, to love Cuir Impertinent, you really need to love the smell of anise. From the perspective of composition and balance, it is, of course, good

Oh, this is definitely not for me. The scent is too sharp, spicy, and clearly oriental. The longevity is impressive, and the sillage leaves a trail, but it feels more like a masculine scent 😬

The fragrance is beautiful, of course, but I don't really like it on a woman. On a man, yes, maybe, but on a lady - I don't know, I can't imagine it. I detect anise, leather, and tobacco in it, but not the expensive kind, rather some cheap one. The fragrance is simply gorgeous! Masculine elegance is felt here, but not obtrusively. From the first seconds, a bright anise is audible, which is simply delightful. A bit of bitter tobacco with cherry notes and a light haze of suede is added to it. All of this is as if powdered with amber and honeyed herbs. The notes are intertwined so that nothing stands out, nothing screams, and the fragrance as a whole is very harmonious. On male skin, it develops beautifully and lasts excellently. This is one of the best fragrances in Mugler's Les Exceptions line

At first, the scent seems quiet, but then it just explodes with sillage, so be careful. Very specific, with smoky notes, tobacco, and anise - it reminds me of a leather jacket or a smoker's gloves, but specifically from a pipe, not cigarettes. In one review, someone wrote that it's the smell of an English gentleman, and, yes, that's absolutely right

The fragrance is certainly noble. But this anise note - it's just amazing. I don't detect any leather, as promised. But Sambuca is clearly present. The longevity, by the way, is pleasing - at least 8 hours. I wear it and receive compliments, but there's something bitter about it too 😔
