History and Identity of Ted Lapidus Creation

Ted Lapidus Creation, released in 1984, is a legendary feminine fragrance that has entered history as a symbol of the era of bold and complex perfume compositions.

As part of the Creation collection, it reflects the innovative spirit of the Ted Lapidus house, founded by a designer who revolutionized fashion.

This release appeared in the mid-80s, when perfumery was experimenting with rich bouquets, and quickly gained popularity due to its versatility.

As part of the brand's heritage, Creation embodies French elegance and creativity, making it a timeless classic that is still appreciated today.

Positioning and Wearability

Positioned as a feminine fragrance, Ted Lapidus Creation offers an eau de toilette with a medium trail, making it versatile for daily wear — from the office to evening outings.

It belongs to the fruit and floral families, with notes from the groups fruit, floral, white flower, woody, ambery, earthy / mossy, musky, and sweet, providing freshness and longevity.

If you liked this fragrance, explore similar perfumes: Van Cleef & Arpels First, Prada Infusion de Rose (2017), and Ajmal Hawaiian Breeze — they offer similar floral-fruity accents.

Author and Influence on the Brand

Behind the creation of this masterpiece is the talented perfumer Jean-Pierre Weil, whose work brought complexity and harmony to the fragrance, reflecting the innovative spirit of Ted Lapidus.

His approach to composition helped strengthen the brand's reputation as a pioneer in perfumery, combining fashion with the art of scents.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Ted Lapidus Creation begins with a bright explosion of top notes: bergamot, black currant, galbanum, lemon, mandarin, mango, neroli, passion fruit, and peach create a juicy and energetic start.

In the heart, a luxurious floral bouquet unfolds with carnation, gardenia, iris, jasmine, lily of the valley, narcissus, rose, tuberose, and ylang-ylang, adding depth and elegance.

The base anchors the composition with warm and earthy notes: amber, oakmoss, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, vetiver, and musk ensure a lasting and seductive finish, perfectly balancing freshness with sensuality.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

The fragrance is truly impressive with its complexity and multi-layered nature. It leaves a feeling of depth that is hard to put into words. Even if you're familiar with its notes, it's not easy to single out anything specific, as all elements harmoniously blend, creating a unique and memorable trail. It's not just a perfume, but a true symphony that captivates and inspires

What a strange fragrance. Warmth and harmony are certainly present, but something about it isn't quite right. Coziness and sweetness, yes, but the aldehydes and mint everyone talks about aren't felt here. I expected more after reading reviews, but in reality - emptiness. Tobacco isn't felt either, though maybe it shouldn't be. The longevity, of course, is pleasing, but that doesn't save it. In the end, I don't know how to love it. I just enjoy it, but with a touch of bitterness

I bought it when I was sixteen, and since then it's been a real discovery for me. Now I'm over thirty-five, but I still happily wear it when the mood strikes. The scent is truly unusual and leaves a trail, although many don't like it… Perhaps not everyone can appreciate its beauty)))✨

Just recently before bed, it occurred to me to spray this fragrance. My husband noticed that the scent reminds him of a hayloft, but in the best possible way. Dry flowers and herbs create an incredible atmosphere. He even remembered his childhood in the village! That makes me very happy, because I also really like this scent! ))

The longevity of this fragrance is simply astonishing, in my opinion, all modern mass-market stuff doesn't even come close. It just fades into the background. The scent is quite cologne-like, and it seems that's how the chypre note is perceived. The opening sounds somewhat quiet and masculine. In rainy weather, the fragrance unfolds best, like all chypre scents, but the weather isn't cooperating, it's a shame I can't enjoy it. On such days, it fully reveals its beauty, especially its green note, which I really like. But, alas, I don't always have the opportunity to use it ))

Last night I decided to try this scent. In the morning, I noticed it was still on my forearm. And you know what I smelled? The scent of loose powder, like my mom's when she used the one in the blue packaging. I can't remember the name, but it was something familiar and warm )

The scent reminds me of a chypre, but with honey notes. It's so old-fashioned and powerful that it develops completely differently on the skin. After it settles a bit, you feel an animalic quality, yellow flowers, and a slight dryness of herbs. The base is simply gorgeous: earthy and woody notes of patchouli with mosses create incredible depth. Fruits, unfortunately, don't show up, they get lost against such a rich composition. Overall, the fragrance is truly multifaceted and interesting, but it should only be worn on special occasions when there's a real love for it. In the modern world, it seems out of place, but it still evokes delight and inspiration )

This scent is simply amazing! 😍 Looking at its notes, you can lose your mind-such variety, such a rich bouquet! It really creates a festive atmosphere, full of bright and sweet nuances, multifaceted and memorable ✨

This fragrance brings back memories of the early 90s. My aunt had one when I was in high school, and I was always curious to peek into her wardrobe. I constantly wondered if I liked it or not. It's sharp and chypre, it has freshness, but at the same time, it's very bright. I remember clove notes and jasmine, and there seemed to be too much powder. I liked the bottle and the stopper, but the fragrance itself turned out to be too loud for me 😅

I have the modern EDT in my collection, but so far I only smell chypre notes. Honey or fruity accents don't appear. I hoped the fragrance would develop over time, but it seems it's more suited for the shelf than for everyday use

What an amazing fragrance this is! Simply gorgeous! It creates an incredible feeling of coziness and warmth. There's something special in it that delights and fills you with harmony. I'm just enjoying it and can't get enough! I love it!

Creation leaves me with mixed feelings and causes bewilderment. Something in it constantly puts me on edge. Sometimes it's too intense, sometimes spicy, and sometimes it's completely unclear what's happening with it as it develops. I feel it's too heavy, and there's none of that lightness when a fragrance embraces you and gives a feeling of comfort and harmony. Rather, on the contrary, it weighs on me. Sometimes I just want to run far away from it 😅

I tried wearing it and was shocked. At first, I smell chypre, prunes, and wood, even though the pyramid says those shouldn't be there. And some kind of smokiness… Then after an hour, the scent starts to change, and flowers appear. After four hours, vanilla, sandalwood, and something fresh and very pleasant are noticeable. If I compare it to the fragrance of my youth, it has certainly changed - it became more woody and chypre at the beginning. But then everything returns to what it was in the old version. The perfume is truly warm and positive, just what you need in bad weather. I adore it, although not everyone might like it! All in all, an excellent scent

I remember secretly taking these perfumes from my mom when I was a kid. And I still feel tenderness and warmth towards them. Even though I'm over forty now. It's a chypre fragrance that's especially good in summer - even in the hottest weather. Surprisingly, it doesn't lose its appeal
