Biography and path to success

Caroline Dumour is a vibrant and contemporary voice in the world of fragrances, a perfumer at the world-renowned company IFF. Her career is a perfect example of how a love of perfumery, backed by serious education, can lead to the creation of iconic fragrances. Caroline's childhood, spent in Picardy in her grandparents' house with its flower garden, filled her memory with vivid scents and became her main inspiration. An in-depth study of chemistry and a diploma from the prestigious ISIPCA school laid a solid foundation. Several years of work as an assistant honed her skills, and in 2016, under the mentorship of the legendary Anne Flipo, Caroline officially received the title of perfumer.

Debut and first collaborations

The world first learned of Dumour's talent thanks to her debut fragrance, Lolita Lempicka - So Sweet, created in 2016 in collaboration with her mentor. This captivating perfume successfully continued the brand's apple line. Following this, in tandem with Anne Flipo and Bruno Jovanovic, Caroline participated in the creation of the sensual men's fragrance Paco Rabanne - Pure XS and its mysterious flanker Pure XS Night. These works for Paco Rabanne and Lolita Lempicka demonstrated her ability to work in the commercial segment, creating popular and recognizable compositions.

Independent work and signature style

The real creative breakthrough came when Caroline Dumour began creating fragrances on her own. Her signature style is a bold, conceptual approach and a virtuoso play with contrasts. For the niche house Comme des Garçons Parfums, she created such extraordinary works as Odeur du Théâtre du Châtelet Acte I, which captures the spirit of the theater, and the refreshing Chlorophyll Gardenia. For the Italian brand Masque Milano, the perfumer created the passionate and dramatic Love Kills, which instantly won over connoisseurs of niche perfumery. These compositions reveal her love of artistic expression and complex accords.

The breadth of the range: from mass market to niche

Caroline Dumour's uniqueness lies in her amazing versatility. She easily creates both exquisite niche fragrances and hits for a wide audience. Her portfolio includes juicy and vibrant perfumes for Yves Rocher — Mon Rouge! and Mon Rouge! Bloom in Love, as well as the invigorating Oriflame - Born to Fly for Him. Her work for Etienne Aigner, such as Icon, demonstrates an impeccable sense of style in the luxury segment.

Contemporary projects and recognition

One of the perfumer's most talked-about works in recent years has been the fragrances for the young French brand Corps Volatils. In 2020, Caroline presented an entire capsule collection, where each perfume is a deep exploration of a single note: transparent Captured Aldehyde, sensual Extracted Jasmine, earthy Fragmented Vetiver, and sunny Magnified Narcissus. Her talent is also appreciated by major fashion houses—for example, she participated in the creation of an updated version of the popular Chloé - Nomade Naturelle Eau de Parfum. Caroline Dumour continues to surprise the industry, remaining one of the most sought-after and interesting perfumers of the new generation.
