Fragrance information:

Meet Fragonard Pivoine – a delicate and refined feminine fragrance that transports you to the blooming gardens of Provence.

Released in 2017, this perfume was created under the brand Fragonard, one of the oldest perfume houses in France, founded in 1926 and symbolizing the spirit of Grasse with its lavender fields and jasmine plantations.

Pivoine is part of the Flower of the Year collection, dedicated to selected flowers, and is an eau de toilette, perfectly suited for those who appreciate lightness and freshness.

Identity and Release History

The name "Pivoine" (peony) reflects the heart of the composition, making this fragrance a tribute to the queen of spring flowers.

As part of the Flower of the Year collection, Fragonard aimed to highlight the peony as a symbol of elegance and tenderness, which is beautifully embodied in this release.

The release in 2017 coincided with the growing popularity of floral fragrances, which helped Pivoine quickly gain attention from perfume enthusiasts worldwide, especially among lovers of classic French notes.

Positioning and Wearability

This perfume is positioned as feminine, offering a soft and airy character that is ideal for daily wear during the spring and summer months.

Thanks to its low perceptible trail, it leaves a subtle, unobtrusive trace, making it an excellent choice for the office, dates, or outdoor walks.

For optimal effect, it is recommended to enter the cloud of sprays on the skin so that the fragrance unfolds gradually, and from 1 to 2 sprays on clothing for a more lasting presence.

Creators and Influence

The creation of Pivoine was worked on by the talented perfumer Céline Ellena, known for her ability to combine traditional techniques with modern accents.

Her approach brought depth and sophistication to the fragrance, reinforcing Fragonard's reputation as a brand that honors heritage but is not afraid to experiment.

This release emphasizes the house's commitment to floral motifs, enhancing its image as a symbol of French perfumery elegance and naturalness.

Fragrance Pyramid and Unfolding

The fragrance pyramid of Fragonard Pivoine begins with a refreshing start, where mock orange (garden jasmine), red currant and rhubarb create a bright and juicy accord, reminiscent of the first rays of spring sun.

In the heart of the composition, a true floral symphony unfolds with jasmine, mimosa, peony, pink peony and white peony, giving the fragrance tenderness and volume, like a stroll through a blooming garden.

The base concludes with warm and lasting notes of ambergris, iris and musk, which add depth and softness, leaving a silky aftertaste on the skin.

This composition belongs to the floral family and combines note groups, such as floral, fruity, green, musky and white floral, creating a multifaceted and harmonious bouquet.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

The smell is somehow sour and soapy. Horrible, something is clearly wrong, the concept definitely failed. I was so looking forward to trying it, as it contains three types of peonies, but in the end, I don't smell any of them 😒

I like the smell of real peonies, but in perfumery, it doesn't always please me. This note is too strong, and it's easy to overdo it. But in this fragrance, the peony turned out to be surprisingly delicate and pleasant. It really delighted me! 🌸

Peonies in perfumery have never impressed me, but I don't detect them here. The fragrance delights with its lightness and freshness, it's like a waft of spring wind with notes of delicate flowers and a light berry accent. Very airy and truly spring-like, it creates a feeling of freedom 🌸

This fragrance, honestly, didn't impress me. Delicate, yes, but spring-like? I doubt it. Peony? No, it's just a faint hint of it. I was looking for something richer, but this is just some nonsense. A complete disappointment

The fragrance is indeed very light and delicate, truly girlish. At first, I thought it wasn't quite peony, but then I realized it was exactly that, although different from what grows in our garden. Among the drawbacks, I can note that it quickly disappears - after just a couple of hours, I don't smell it anymore, only a faint trace remains where it was applied. Overall, it's quite suitable for everyday use
