Fragrance information:

The year 2005 gave us Isfarkand Ormonde Jayne. This is a unisex fragrance rooted in the chypre and wood families. Geza Schoen and Linda Pilkington worked their magic — and the result speaks for itself. By character, it falls into the wood, earthy / mossy, and citrus groups. In eau de parfum — and that's all it takes to fall in love.

It carries a moderate sillage, leaving a trail that lingers pleasantly in the air. Recommended dosage: 1-2 sprays on skin, 2-3 sprays on clothing. It's a light presence — longevity is low, perfect for those who love something airy. Behind this fragrance stands the United Kingdom and its rich perfumery heritage. Isfarkand Ormonde Jayne — the choice of those who appreciate depth and character in every detail.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Isfarkand evolves as a living composition, where notes flow without rush and without gaps. The signature of Ormonde Jayne comes through in the way notes appear and fade. No excess details, only what works, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Eau de parfum sets the depth and body this composition needs.

The accord profile is built around these accords: Citrus, Wood, Powdery and Spicy forming a compact and readable structure. The stylistic positioning is unisex, which sharpens how the fragrance is perceived. For persistence Low points to a sustained drydown presence. In trail behavior Middle defines the projection profile in space.

In the top tier you sense radiant lemon-bergamot top notes: Bergamot, Lime and Mandarin.

At the core of development you notice Iris and Pink pepper carrying a opulent floral direction.

At olfactory-group level the composition is built around Citrus, Earthy / Mossy, Wood and Floral. The framework further includes Spicy. At family level the composition sits in Chypre and Wood.

Taken together Isfarkand reads as a cohesive composition — the start forms character, the heart develops the core line, and the base secures the trail. This is the type of composition best judged through real development.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.
Persistence
Low (1 to 2 hours)
2
Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

I don't understand why it's classified as a chypre. It's a woody fougère, all wood, but with some intrusive citrus opening. I don't like it at all; the base has a spicy woodiness with mossiness that's more like old oak bark. I smell a forest where cedars bend in the wind, wet after the rain, and this scent of sweetish-fresh wood that's slightly drying under the sun. It disappears very quickly, the only one from Ormonde Jayne that just whispers quietly on me. I apply it to my hair, then at least I can smell it for half a day

Chypre fragrances are not for me. But this perfume attracts with its playfulness: first, you feel citrus, like fresh lime, then a spice appears that tickles the nose. And then woody notes with iris, powderiness, and mossiness come onto the scene, accompanied by vetiver. This fragrance is suitable not only for men, it's more unisex

Completely agree with Olga: this is truly a fougère fragrance. A woody note is clearly felt in it, cedar stands out, and citrus accents add freshness. I also prefer to apply perfume to my hair, it lasts much longer that way, even if the scent isn't too long-lasting 🌟
