Fragrance information:

The house of Serge Lutens gifted the world with Chypre Rouge in 2006. By character, a unisex fragrance drawing from the aromatic, chypre, and fruit families. Created by the skilled hands of Christopher Sheldrake and Serge Lutens. By character, it falls into the ambery, animals, and aromatic groups. The palette of this fragrance is exceptionally rich: traces of gourmet and sweet can also be found — a rare combination that makes this perfume truly one of a kind. Created within the Flacons de Table collection and available in eau de parfum.

It carries a moderate sillage, leaving a trail that lingers pleasantly in the air. 1-2 sprays sprays on skin are recommended. It stays on the skin for a good while — longevity is firmly in the moderate range. Behind this fragrance stands France and its rich perfumery heritage. Chypre Rouge Serge Lutens — the choice of those who appreciate depth and character in every detail.

Description of the composition

The olfactory structure of Chypre Rouge unfolds as a continuous scent journey, where layers reveal themselves smoothly and sequentially. The creative approach of Serge Lutens is recognizable in details that define the fragrance identity. Every decision feels deliberate, and the composition keeps a clear direction. Eau de parfum emphasizes the depth and body this composition needs.

At olfactory-group level the structure relies on Ambery, Animals, Aromatic and Gourmet. The palette also extends to Sweet, Wood, Whiteflower and Earthy / Mossy.

As soon as the fragrance opens you detect clean cedar top notes: Pine and Thyme.

In the heart you detect Beeswax, Honey and Jasmine keeping a dense direction.

The olfactory framework is shaped by these accords: Animalistic, Aromatic, Gourmet and Floral forming a compact and readable structure. Additional accords such as Musc, Wood, Amber and Spicy add depth to the backdrop. The gender direction is unisex, which clarifies the composition character. For persistence Middle suggests confident staying power.

Overall Chypre Rouge sounds complete from start to finish — the opening sets direction, the central phase adds depth, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint. These are the scent structures best judged through real development.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

2
Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

This scent is like a close friend to me, but I don't wear *that* one, and I absolutely adore *this* one! It's much more pleasant and softer, with a light coniferous accent, and the sweetness at the end gives it true magic. Simply enchanting

The scent is indeed rich, the coniferous notes remind me of Vert d'Encens by TF. I wouldn't say they're identical, but the pine and conifer in both fragrances sound simply magnificent. In Lutens, woody resins are framed by amber, and the tree trunk seems enveloped in dense chypre moss. I pondered, but not for long

Here I noticed an interesting combination of flowers, honey, and cumin. It's quite soft, not like a classic chypre. And the pine needles in the drydown are truly pleasing

The perfume, honestly, is strange. The pyramid, yes, looks interesting, but that doesn't save the situation. In the end, expectations weren't met
