Identity and Release History

Immerse yourself in the mysterious world of Serge Lutens with the fragrance Cedre, released in 2005.

This unisex masterpiece is part of the exclusive collection Les Flacons de Table, offering a concentration of Perfume Water for a deep and lasting impression.

Cedre belongs to the Oriental and Woody families, hinting at its rich, warm character, ideal for those who appreciate complex and atmospheric compositions.

The fragrance Cedre reflects the philosophy of the Serge Lutens brand, where boldness and creative vision create entire universes.

Founded by visionary Serge Lutens, this house is known for niche releases that go beyond the ordinary, and Cedre is a prime example of this approach, inviting a journey through woody and spicy notes.

Positioning and Wearability

Cedre is positioned as a unisex fragrance, making it a versatile choice for anyone seeking something special.

Its sillage is rated as low, adding intimacy and sophistication—it is not intrusive but gently accompanies you, creating an aura of mystery.

Thanks to notes of cedar and spices, Cedre is perfect for cooler seasons or evening outings, where its warm tones unfold fully.

For optimal application, it is recommended to use 1 to 2 sprays on the skin to enjoy subtle development on the body, and 2 to 3 sprays on clothing for a longer-lasting effect.

This dosage allows you to control the intensity, making the fragrance adaptable to different scenarios.

Creators and Influence

Behind Cedre are two outstanding creators: Christopher Sheldrake and Serge Lutens.

Their collaboration brought a unique synthesis of technical skill and artistic vision to the fragrance, characteristic of many of the brand's releases.

Cedre enhances Serge Lutens' reputation as a pioneer in niche perfumery, demonstrating how classic elements can be reinterpreted in a modern way.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

3
Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. Although the fragrance name is associated with cedar, there isn't much of it there. In fact, you can feel woodiness mixed with tuberose and balms. The scent isn't too bright, but it lasts long on the skin. The sillage, unfortunately, isn't very noticeable; you can only catch a slight hint in the first couple of hours. The tuberose here is really good - not overloaded with sweetness and reveals its floral side. Overall, it's a beautiful fragrance, but in my opinion, it's more suitable for men )

Cedar, though listed in the name, actually seems shy and takes a backseat, giving way to this crazy tuberose and sensual musk. I've adored this fragrance since its release 13 years ago. It's such a shame they're discontinuing it this year

The ban on walking in the garden during tuberose bloom seems perfectly understandable. This fragrance is a real drug! It's so captivating that you can easily lose your mind. Feelings start to go off the charts, and suddenly everything becomes too real: images that were once blurry begin to clearly emerge. Musky notes envelop like a cloud, and amber flows like honey down tree trunks. Cinnamon dust hangs in the air, and everything around seems to breathe, pulsate, creating new waves of aroma. Tuberose sounds as if it's on the edge, as if the body is in ecstasy, enjoying its fullness. And only the clove, like a needle, prevents you from completely drowning in this madness. This is what they mean: "Ugh! How beautiful it is!"

The fragrance is truly impressive! But there's almost no cedar perceptible here. The main note is tuberose, and it smells as if it's amplified by clove and cinnamon. Honestly, it feels like this perfume is more suitable for older women

Lutens' fragrance surprised me again, but not in a good way. It's not for me, to put it mildly. The floral sweetness here is just off the charts, and the tuberose behaves like a true predator, ready to attack. It seems no one even thought about cedar, all attention is on the flowers

I got a sample, and honestly, I thought there would be a lot of cedar. But, alas, on me it unfolded as a bright and loud tuberose with cinnamon and musk, and woody notes are almost imperceptible. In the end, the fragrance reminds me more of a masculine one, so I couldn't wear it 😕

The floral scent is indeed beautiful, but with a slight retro touch. It reminds me of how it smells in my aunt's closet - a woman who was always elegant and caring. It's sunny and warm, evoking nostalgia. I liked it, but I'm not sure how suitable it is for everyday use

The sweetness is too intrusive, it's really annoying. I constantly want something refreshing nearby 😅

Before me stands a strong brunette, a typical Siberian man. The scent he wears is indeed warm and spicy, but at first, it seems too sharp. After half an hour, it unfolds and becomes more pleasant. The tuberose in this perfume stands out very brightly

Ever tried feijoa compote? This perfume reminded me exactly of its scent. Feijoa isn't my cup of tea, so Cedre and I didn't click. Reading the notes, I expected a completely different smell. All in all, a disappointment! EMOTIONS!

How I dreamed of a fragrance with cedar, so resinous and slender, with notes of pine needles and the Soviet drink Baikal. Tuberose, if present at all, should be somewhere in the background, not like this. Alas, my hopes were shattered. This tuberose just screams, overwhelming with its sweetness, and feels so heavy on me, it's just awful. Only at the very end, when the base is almost imperceptible, do the resins and cedar appear - what I was looking for. I don't like tuberose in perfumery, only in small doses, but here it's in full force. I think this fragrance will suit those who adore tuberose

Cedre is one of the fragrances I really like from Lutens. But, to be honest, it's more suitable for meditation or deep introspection than for everyday life. For an ordinary Ukrainian girl, it might seem too complex and inappropriate(((✨

The fragrance is simply amazing! It's so cozy and pleasant, with a warm woody undertone and a lightly sweet cinnamon, which I think comes from the tuberose. This is exactly one of those cases where you fall in love at first sniff 💖

The fragrance is simply awful. I haven't received any compliments, just puzzled looks. It's unclear how it could be considered expensive or unusual. The sillage only leaves an unpleasant residue. For brunettes? No way, it's not for them. Brightness and a sense of taste have absolutely nothing to do with it

This Lutens fragrance is probably the first one that disappointed me 😕 I don't detect cedar here, even though I know perfectly well what it smells like - a fresh cut of wood, needles you rub in your hands, and the resinous scent of cones. None of that is here! Instead, there's some cloying sweetness of tuberose with cinnamon, reminiscent of syrup. In the base, musk and some ordinary wood are felt. At first, the fragrance sharply hits the nose with something resinous and camphor-like. I won't be able to wear it, but luckily, I have a small decant
